Vol. 2, No. 13
Action Items:
  • Share the invite for the Rapid Research Pilot Program Info Session on July 27
  • Share the invite for the next Community Connections meeting on July 28
Dear RADx-UP partners,

Thanks to all the project teams that have shared your scholarly and non-scholarly products with the RADx-UP CDCC team – currently we have 89 journal articles listed in the RADx-UP Publications Dashboard and 152 items collected in the Resources library.

Much of the work coming out of your projects is specific to one community or population, but the collection and sharing of them will strengthen our RADx-UP community.

For example, take a few minutes to see what you might learn from resources such as the #Vax4Community video stories, or Oregon Saludable: Juntos Podemos study website, or COVID-19 Mandates: Recommendations for Hawaii Businesses

Keep sending us your published research articles and new resource materials. And, our CDCC team is searching for a better name for “non-scholarly products.” If you can help, please send us your suggestions.
Rapid Research Pilot Program Info Session

The RADx-UP Rapid Research Pilot Project (RP2) team is hosting an informational session about the program on July 27 at 2 p.m. Topics will include eligibility, funding, and the selection timeline.

Register today and please share this opportunity with researchers from community health departments, institutions of higher education – especially historically black colleges and universities, tribally controlled colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, and other minority-serving institutions – as well as industry, tech incubators, innovation offices, and state and local governments. The next deadline for applications is Sept. 16, 2022.
Community Connections Event for Community Partners

Community partners will gather on July 28 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the next meeting in the Community Connections series. Brandy Farrar, managing director at American Institutes for Research, will discuss qualitative data and insights.

The Community Engagement Core has been systematically collecting and analyzing qualitative data on the implementation of RADx-UP projects. The purpose of July’s Community Connections meeting is to present and discuss the results of these analyses. The goals are: (1) promote broad awareness of project teams’ day-to-day successes and challenges as they pursue their RADx-UP goals; (2) assess whether these data are reflective of community partners’ perspectives; and (3) gather feedback on what qualitative data and dissemination strategies are most valuable to community partners.

Download the series to your calendar and/or use this Zoom link to join on the 28th: https://duke.zoom.us/j/95507478606

Working Groups Year One Highlights

Members of the working groups presented their activities and achievements to a broader audience in their first annual cross-working group celebration on June 29. At that event, they screened the RADx-UP Working Group video which is intended to share with RADx-UP project team members to encourage them to learn more and get involved in one or more groups.

New resources on RADxUP.org

Watch and share this video about the five key takeaways from the RADx-UP project working with the Latinx community in Baltimore.

Take Care, Texas provided a plethora of materials for the RADxUP.org library including:

Ancient Greek ‘yearbook’

Researchers discovered a 2,000-year-old tablet in the storage of the National Museums Scotland. The Roman marble slab with Athenian inscriptions was a sort of ancient yearbook with a list of names of men who completed civic and military training called the ephebate. The research team believes that this would have been used to commemorate the group’s achievement. This marble slab helps us get a glimpse of life in ancient history!
