Jocelyn Ramos Gonzales (she/they) is a survivor advocate for We Are TB, a member of the Curry International TB Center’s Western Region Advisory Committee, and a first-year medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She and her family underwent treatment for TB in 2015, and her father’s story continues to be a primary motivator for her pursuit of medical education and TB advocacy.

This didactic will also include a review of current national and WA State TB trends, presented by Kelsey Hewson, an Epidemiologist for the Tuberculosis Program at the Washington State Department of Health. She started working in TB in January of 2021 after graduating from the University of Washington MPH program. Although she is relatively new to TB, she is excited and eager to learn more!

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • describe a patient experience of TB treatment in order to address barriers to treatment completion and improve completion rates
  • discuss a patient's experiences of TB diagnosis and treatment and identify strategies to deliver empathic, culturally conscious care
  • use state TB epidemiology data to identify populations at risk for LTBI/TB disease and improve timely diagnosis

Space is limited. 1 hour of CME/CNE credit from Curry International TB Center, UCSF is available with attendance and completion of the after-session evaluation. Please note: people who are already enrolled in TB ECHO will need to register for this webinar to participate.

Special thanks to We are TB!
