Inclement Weather Protocol + Schedule

With our Colorado winters upon us, it is important that families and students stay in the know about what to do during an inclement weather day at CECI. Follow this link to our 22-23 Weather Protocol.docx and our’22-’23 Bell Schedule, but remember to stay prepared, dress appropriately, and adhere to the delay schedule.

Knowledge Bowl Is Going To STATE!!!

State Bound! Way to go, Knowledge Bowl!!!

Our Knowledge Bowl team came in 6th place at the regional tournament

at Weld Central High School on February 11th (out of 28 teams)

and qualified for the state championships at UNC in Greeley on March 13th and 14th!

"Knowledge bowl is a community and collaborative space that fosters growth, companionship, creative thinking, and the pursuit of knowledge. What makes me love knowledge bowl is the camaraderie and laughter at competitions as teams cheer each other on (while still trying to beat other teams to the buzz) and the sense of accomplishment in our unity as a team. All the members are so grateful to our wonderful coach, Mr. Simonds, for even making Knowledge Bowl a possibility. And as the captain and a member of the team, I am grateful to our knowledge bowl families and proud of all the wonderful members who contribute their knowledge and determination." - Jacinta D.

From the Mental Health Office

In this article, Pouring from an empty cup? Three ways to refill emotionally by Heidi Godman, different ways of nurturing yourself to ease both burnout and exhaustion are discussed. The three main points are very helpful.

  • Carve out time for yourself. We talked about self-care but are you and your student making time every week for it?
  • Commit to better health. It is cliché to talk about getting enough exercise, maintaining a healthy diet, and getting enough sleep. But is cliché for good reason, it works!
  • Surround yourself with comfort. You can try taking a warm bath, lighting a candle, or even using an oil diffuser with your favorite scent.

As always, I am at CECI Tuesdays and Thursdays in office 218D. Please feel free to email me, Ms. DeHaan at liv.dehaan@coloradoearlycolleges.org, or send me a Teams message. I am also happy to be accepting appointments now for check-ins. Have a good week everyone!

From the Office of Culture & Safety....

From the Office of Culture & Safety:

We hope everyone has had a wonderful week, and do not forget,

NO school on Monday as we celebrate President’s Day!

We want to take a moment and revisit some of our School Dress Code and ID Badge Policies:

  • Students should wear clothing that covers ALL undergarments and midriffs. Pants/jeans must be worn at the waist. No underwear, boxers or undergarments may be visible.
  • Tops must cover areas from one armpit across to the other armpit. Tank-top straps must be at least “4 fingers wide” and NO spaghetti strap tops allowed.
  • Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be NO shorter than midway between fingertip length and top of the knee.
  • Pajamas, slippers, blankets, and costumes are not allowed.
  • Hooded sweatshirts or Hoodies may be worn; however, the hood must not cover the head. Bandanas may not be worn inside the buildings. Traditional/Religious headwear, as well as protective hairstyles commonly or historically associated with race, are allowed.

Beanies are only allowed to be worn on Fridays....

Student IDs are required to be worn while on campus for safety reasons. We see many of you are following this requirement and we appreciate your support in this matter. If you do not have a lanyard or plastic sleeve, see Ms. Whitney at the front desk for replacements. Students will incur a $5 charge for a replacement ID.

Lastly, students are required to clean up after themselves, which includes lunchroom tables, games, outdoor picnic tables and 2nd/3rd floor workstations. Let us all make a conscious effort to resolve this problem and keep our wonderful school looking beautiful.

Thank you and we hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Results show how students are progressing academically, which is a key component to ensuring students are on track to graduate prepared for college and career. CMAS is designed to assess higher-level skills such as critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving. These assessments also help inform our school and district leaders on the changes needed to strengthen student outcomes in our district, which is why it’s so important for families to participate.

All 11th graders are automatically signed up for Science CMAS.

If your student would like to OPT-OUT for any of these tests, please fill out the OPT-OUT form available at front desk and return to Emily Brown, Assessment Coordinator.

This Week In The Yeti Showcase:

Our amazing Home Economics class, taught by Ms. Leigh, learned how to write formal letters a few weeks ago. Students spent the period crafting letters to their favorite businesses or Disney characters. Letter writing may be a lost art in the age of email and texting, but our students rocked the assignment... and even received letters back!

Donny wrote his letter to Top Golf explaining how their establishment has encouraged him to develop a love of golf and pursue his new interest on a more professional level.

Top Golf responded in the most amazing way! Donny is pictured here in some of his newly arrived Top Golf swag holding the hand written reply from the Top Golf Corporate Offices!! They even included a gift certificate for a Top Golf session! WOW! Our students are doing amazing things in Enrichment every day!!!
