Thursday, February 23rd, saw record-breaking high temperatures around Central Virginia. At 83°, Richmond tied its all-time record for February. The unseasonably warm weather made for the perfect opportunity to fish - can you spot the fishermen who took in the beautiful scenery on Camp T. Brady Saunders' Lake Dillon?

Fall Family 5K & Kids 1-Mile Fun Run

Get ready to GLOW! In celebration of our 110th Anniversary, we're de-lighted to share plans for a Fall Family 5k & Kids Fun Run! With a giant campfire program complete with S'mores, glow-in-the-dark t-shirts and other fun treats, it'll be an event that will outshine the rest! Whether you like to run, walk, cheer or volunteer, we hope you'll join us! S'more details to follow!

2023 Campership Request Forms DUE March 15th!

The HOVC Camping Committee is committed to ensuring youth of our council are able to learn, grow, and improve leadership and outdoor skills through a robust camping program. We are poised to work with you and your units to improve camping in our council, and will continue with the campership program this year to assist Scouts who need additional resources to ensure all can participate in our many camping opportunities.

Arrohattoc / Crater Pinewood Derby Races

The Arrohattoc and Crater Districts are hosting their Annual Pinewood Derby on March 18th at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds!  All Cub Scouts (and their Outlaw siblings) are invited to attend. Racers must be registered NO LATER THAN Thursday, March 16th. Don't let this race pass you by!

Buckskin 2023: The Leadership Experience

Registration is officially open! Buckskin offers a 360º leadership experience that integrates classroom teaching with hands-on practice and reinforcement. This exciting combination will equip your Scout with the tools, experience, confidence, and enthusiasm needed to make a difference as a leader.

IOLS Training in Tappahannock: March 11th - 12th!

Scouting BSA's IOLS training provides adult Scouters with the basic knowledge, skills, and resources to lead age appropriate overnight outings. Through practicing the patrol method and course instruction, attendees will experience a broad range of outdoor skills from outdoor cooking to orienteering, from campfire programs to leading themed nature hikes, and much more. Round out your adult leader training with this hands on course while building a network of resources during a fun, interactive weekend at the Scout Hut in Tappahannock.
