The Falcon Flyer - Website Edition
January 22, 2022
Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,

It’s good to be back into the swing of things after winter break. We hope the decline in cases continues in the days ahead and we appreciate everyone’s diligence and cooperation in our mitigation efforts.  If transmission rates are reduced we hope to get the 3-5 basketball skills camp started in about two weeks. We will keep you posted and will send out a revised schedule once we confirm the new start date. We also have plans for additional extracurricular activities later in the year.

The Illinois Beach State Park field trips for K-2 and 6-8 will be virtual this week and these trips will be enhanced by a second activity presented by Mrs. Jacob. The focus of these trips will be on birds and grade level specific activities on the topic.  On February 1st, the whole school will be taking a virtual trip to the Shedd aquarium for a live Behind the Scenes Visit with the Penguins there. We were excited to be selected for this special live virtual visit.

As we near the two year anniversary of COVID19, I think we can all affirm that it has not been an easy road for anyone. What stands out for me as I reflect on the impact on the last three school years is the power of our collaboration and partnership. We have navigated the ever changing challenges as a community. During these many days of COVID, we have worked together, supporting one another in order to provide our students with a safe and productive learning environment.

I don’t think any of us will ever forget this time in our lives but I for one will always be deeply grateful for the way our entire community has come together. No one knows for sure how much longer our lives will be impacted but we do know that together we can make it through… Many thanks to all…
Take care… Be safe … Until next time
Dr. Jenny Wojcik
Schedule Changes Effective 1/10/2022
Due to the COVID surge, we will not be offering after school activities other than the BASE program until further notice. In addition all field trips will move to a virtual format to support student safety and staffing needs.
Notes from Our Principal
Ms. Elizabeth Davis
Dear Families and Staff,

I hope that everyone in the Rondout community is healthy and doing well. During this cold winter week, our students continued to grow and learn. Classes spent time discussing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his contributions to our nation. In addition, students participated in the winter benchmark STAR math test. This snapshot of information helps us see student growth in the area of math, and identify areas where we can continue to support our students’ math skills.
In looking towards the month of February, there are many opportunities to celebrate with our students. Groundhog’s Day, The 100th Day of School, Valentine’s Day, and Random Act of Kindness Day are just a few of the special days we acknowledge in February. Please be on the lookout for more information about Valentine’s day festivities in the coming days.
Our School Spelling Bee will be this upcoming Wednesday, January 26. Best of luck to all the contestants. While our spellers will be in person, our spectators will be zooming in to watch. Due to the cold weather, we have been inside for recess lately. As the temperatures rise to safe levels, please be sure students come to school with hats, gloves, and boots. If students would like to play in the snow, they should also have snow pants. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our students safe and warm while they play.

Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week.
Best wishes,
Elizabeth Davis
