Music Week has been transformative. When I came here, I lacked courage to really try to pursue music. In my first songwriting class here, I wasn’t finishing sentences. But, in five days here, I wrote two songs. There is something about this place – magical.

We're On the Road to a Better World
From February 29 to March 3, The Mountain hosted the Racial Healing Initiative - attended by our staff, board of directors, and friends of this special place - to learn how we can better strengthen our capacity to advance racial healing and create systematic change that extends through our programming and out into our greater world. The lessons were profound, and the impact of the knowledge shared will run deep through the roots of The Mountain for years to come.
Attending the Racial Healing Initiative workshop was a heartfelt and deeply educational experience. The activities, discussions, and meditations allowed me to go beyond my own thinking and be able to embody what thoughts, words, and actions might be needed to stand in solidarity with those that have been marginalized throughout history and those impacted to this day.
I recommend attending the Racial Healing Initiative to realize what you know, what you don’t know, what you and others feel, and what you can do.

Workshop participants visiting between sessions
Being a participant in the Racial Healing Initiative gave us all a very safe space. A safe space to explore within the self the impact the construct of racism creates somatically within the body. An opportunity to explore new tools from sacred traditions which helps provide the utilization of unrealized knowledge to assist in the ability to continue further into this work in an increased, emotionally aware and well cared for self-container. I am grateful to be together with everyone involved in this difficult and significant journey.

Message from the Board
Lee Reading

|
We are facing a stiff challenge in staffing all our summer programs. Young adults today have so many attractive options to consider and many have pressing economic needs that dictate what employment choices they must make. Our response has been to consolidate camp sessions in order to gain some staffing efficiency without compromising any of our health and safety standards or our commitment to program excellence.
• Senior High Camp opens the season for 15-17 year olds from June 9-22. Ascenders who are committing to the seven-week long leadership training program start their experience along with their peers in the Senior High two-week session.
• June 23-29 is Intergenerational Camp for parents, grandparents and children of all ages to come to The Mountain together.
• Elementary Camp will run from June 30 - July 13 for campers ages 9-11 years old.
• The final two-week session is Intermediate Camp, from July 14-27 for youth ages 12-14 years old.
This compressed calendar will make scheduling counselor days on and off more manageable and we hope presents a more attractive employment opportunity. A big trade off has been to drop one-week options as well as rolling the Beginners Camp into the Intergenerational Camp.
Please go to our website for a full rundown on Mountain Camp. We hope you will find a session that fits right into your summer calendar.
And if you know a mature, grounded, patient, playful young adult 18 years or older, who is still searching for their summer dream job, refer this person to our employment page
