Welcome Back!
Happy New Year and Welcome Back! We look forward to seeing our students next week as we usher in 2023 at Mountain Song.

Our staff have been meeting this week to prepare for the new semester. It’s been a joyous start, and there are many things happening!

Students in grades 1-8 return next Monday, January 9th. Kinder students are out next week while teachers meet with them one-on-one to conduct first grade readiness assessments. We look forward to seeing all Kinder students back in class on Tuesday, January 17th.

School Tours for families interested in learning more about Mountain Song start next Friday, January 13th. Tell your friends!

There will be no school on Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.  Over that weekend, many of our staff and board members will participate in the online conference sponsored by the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education, to which we belong.

We will host an Art Night Open House for you and the greater community on Thursday, January 19th. Bring your friends and family!

Read about these activities in more detail below. We love this new momentum as we are more able to gather and meet in person!

As we share our enthusiasm, please also be mindful of keeping our community healthy. Germs never take time off, and we ask you to keep students who are sick or experiencing symptoms at home to get well and help prevent the spread.

We look forward to seeing you in 2023!

Executive Director
Attention Kindergarten Families
This is a friendly reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL for our Kindergarten students next week, January 9th - 13th. Kindergarten teachers will be conducting individual assessments with students, and they are communicating directly with you to schedule this. We look forward to the return of our youngest students on January 17th, 2023.

Art Night Open House
Mark your calendars! On Thursday, January 19th, we will host an Art Night Open House to showcase the amazing talents of students and staff. This will include music, videos, and visual art. Feel free to invite friends who may be interested in joining the Mountain Song Community or to learn more about us. This will be a chance to talk to teachers and check out different classes and activities. Please join us!
Welcome at Assemblies
We welcome parents and caregivers at our Friday morning assemblies to enjoy the sharing and whole school gathering of the grades. We do ask you to please abide by the following.

  • Use the chairs at the back of the gym proudly set up for you by our 8th graders. The rest of the gym is used by teachers, staff, and students who sit with their classes.
  • Do not video record and do not live stream these events. These assemblies are meant to be an intimate sharing between classes.
  • We have a number of students who should not be photographed, and we manage these through our student records regarding media disclosures. Please be respectful of our students’ privacy.

On most Friday mornings, our assemblies begin around 8:20. You are welcome to enter the building at arrival time, sign in at the front office, and make your way to the gym.
The Place
Donate ‘til You Drop!
Our school is a proud supporter of The Place, a non-profit here in Colorado Springs, dedicated to giving youth who are experiencing homelessness a leg up. This Spring, we will have a larger, formal, fundraiser to support The Place and their mission.

In the meantime, please join us in supporting this lovely organization through donation of the following items, to be collected and delivered by our Ag Arts team.

MAJOR NEEDS:
  • Toilet Paper
  • Travel Sized Toiletries (deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste)

Would Also Like:
  • Granola / Cereal Bars
  • Snack Packs

Something else to consider: If anyone received new appliances over the Holidays, The Place will graciously take your old, gently used appliances. Last year we received a couple of microwaves and a vacuum and they were thrilled!

Donations can be brought to the Ag Arts office or the Front Desk!

Thank you for your consideration in supporting this worthy organization! The Place is incredibly grateful for our loving and gracious community.
Weekend Garden Volunteers Needed
We are looking for garden volunteers to help out during weekends. Duties include caring for the animals and watering the greenhouse. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to engage with our school garden, to get outside, and witness the impact of nurturing all living things while everyone is away!

Please email Mr. Adam if you have any questions or want to receive training.
