“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” – Edgar Degas

Where ya been, G53? Oh, just saving a 129-year-old building . . .

Maybe you noticed it’s been a little while since we sent a regular newsletter. But it’s not because we’ve forgotten about you! It's because we’ve been working so hard to save our circa 1894 building and keep art ALIVE in our community!

As you know, we’ve been plagued by a leaky roof and a deteriorating structure. We were awarded funds to alleviate both issues in 2021. But by the time RFPs were issued, costs had skyrocketed, leaving a serious shortfall. Then our ancient, balky elevator was finally diagnosed as terminal. Fortunately, we were approved for a second round of American Rescue Funds, and we’re moving forward with major repairs.

THANK YOU to the Meriden City Council, Meriden ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) Committee, G53's Raise the Roof Committee. . . and all of you! We could not have done this without YOUR support!
