Register for Hansen Life Sciences Retreat
Register now for the 2021 Hansen Life Sciences Retreat to be held at Logan’s Riverwoods Conference Center Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9. Celebrating its 11th year, the annual gathering is open to all USU students, faculty, and staff. involved in the study of biological processes at the molecular level.

‘Seeing Science’ at Science Unwrapped Sept. 17
Science Unwrapped, the public outreach program of the College of Science, kicks off its 2021-22 series Friday, Sept. 17, at 7 pm in ESLC 130, with USU data scientist Kevin Moon, who presents, “Seeing Science.” The presentation will also be livestreamed from the Science Unwrapped website.

Please encourage your students to volunteer to provide video learning activities for Science Unwrapped. Contact Mary-Ann Muffoletto at maryann.muffoletto@usu.edu for details.
College of Science Student Hardship Fund Launched 
The College of Science Hardship Fund provides one-time, emergency financial assistance to students within the college who are experiencing a crisis. This fund is separate from the university’s Student Emergency Fund, from which science majors may also apply for assistance. To access the fund’s website, select “Students” from the main navigation bar on the College of Science home page and select “Student Hardship Fund” from the drop-down menu.

For questions beyond the information on the website, please direct undergraduates to Associate Dean Greg Podgorski and graduate students to Associate Dean Sean Johnson.
Fostering Inclusion in the College
The College of Science invites applications to a faculty cluster hire of at least four positions on the Logan campus, to enhance justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) efforts in science and mathematics disciplines in our college.
‘A’ Day of Giving is Oct. 21, 2021
Every contribution counts. Join in USU’s 24-hour ‘A’ Day of Giving on Thursday, Oct. 21, during USU Homecoming Week 2021. This year’s effort benefits the College of Science Scholarship Fund.
All Welcome to Oct. 1 ‘A Time to Die’
Panel Discussion 
Physician-assisted dying is legal in a number of U.S. states, but is it time for this legislation in Utah? Join USU Biology faculty member Andy Anderson, hospice nurse Pat Sadoski and physician Matt Welter for “A Time to Die: Adoption of Physician-Assisted Dying in Utah,” a virtual panel discussion, Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at 7 p.m., broadcast online from the college’s website. All are welcome; admission is free.
Sign Up for iChange Listserv 
Faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up for the iChange listserv to receive updates about the university’s Aspire Alliance activities. USU is one of 19 universities across the nation selected to participate in an initiative to foster an inclusive and diverse STEM faculty.
