Dumpster Day was a Huge Success | Over the weekend we organized a Dumpster Day event at the Berryessa Community Center which resulted in the removal of twelve dumpsters full of unwanted junk and debris from the neighborhood! Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help things run so smoothly. | Events like this are a great way to clean up our neighborhood, but they're also a great way to participate in positive activities along with members of your community. If you're interested in volunteering to help out next time, please email my office. |

By 2028, we will maintain or repave approximately 2,000 San José streets. This includes every mile of our local and neighborhood streets, where most San Joséans live. Our Pavement Maintenance Program also includes most of our major street network, which carries most of our traffic.
Many of the areas we will be focusing on in the District, such as the large portion in Alviso represented in the map below, have been in desperate need of rejuvenation and modernization for some time. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we bring new life to hundreds of miles of San José streets!
| Want to know when your street is getting paved? Check out the City's pavement story map, which shows our work as it progresses, including scheduled streets for the next 3 years, work in progress, and streets we've completed work on this year. Paving isn't done in wet weather months, so 2023 projects are all just about to get started! | You can quickly and easily report potholes, blight, abandoned vehicles, and more using San Jose 311 or by calling the 24/7 hotline at 408-794-1900. |

| More Opportunities to Help Plant Trees! | Earlier this month my staff and I joined Our City Forest and dozens of volunteers to plant nearly 20 trees in Alviso Park on Wilson Ave. We've got a goal of planting 1,000 trees in the district during my first term. |
Here are a few more opportunities for you to get involved:
Our City Forest is planting trees all along Zanker Avenue throughout the month and they're looking for volunteers on three Saturday mornings. See more information and sign up to help by clicking these links: Saturday, February 11 • Saturday, February 18th • Saturday, February 25th
| Our beloved Alum Rock Park remains closed to the public due to dangerous conditions near trails and waterways. Parks & Rec is working hard to make repairs, and asks for patience until the park can be reopened. You can find more information about this closure here. | |
Stanford Blood Center Drive |
Donate blood during this event and you could win prizes including Amazon gift cards and Warriors basketball tickets.

Who's making a big difference in your community? A great teacher, business owner, a police officer who goes beyond the call of duty. Maybe there's someone spending their free time organizing creek clean-ups or blanket drives for the unhoused... If you've got someone special in your neighborhood, let us know by nominating them to be a District Hero! | |
Councilmember David Cohen promotes community cleanup events for residents throughout the year. It's a fun and easy way for everyone to get involved in their community, complete community service hours, and help serve their neighborhood by removing debris, trash and illegally dumped items from streets, creeks, and parks.
Join us in beautifying District 4 by participating in our next Neighborhood Clean Up!
If you would like to volunteer, please email my office.

Local businesses have a new opportunity to reinvigorate their business, save money, and support community-wide energy conservation efforts through a new program from San José Clean Energy, the local clean electricity provider operated by the City of San José.
The San José Energy Efficient Business Program has unlocked several rebates to San José business owners for qualifying HVAC, refrigeration, or water heating projects. These rebates, totaling up to 80–90% off the project cost, will make renovations to your small business more affordable and kickstarting these upgrades so much easier! All business customers with an active San José Clean Energy account are invited to participate.
Want to see if your project qualifies for the rebates above? Learn more or find a participating contractor at SanJoseCleanEnergy.org/Business.
