2023 SVR Events
· We had a great attendance at the Planning and Pizza meeting on January 5th.
· Thanks to Sally Boeck (2022 Vice President) and John Leet (2023 Vice President) for putting this event together.
· Several introductions were made as well:
o Rick Duste was introduced as the new SVR Tour Chair
o Gail Hawks and Susan Green were introduced as two SVR members who volunteered to help our Membership Director, Steven Long, with contacting new members upon joining the region.
· SVR Webmaster, Jody Rosner, is working to get all of the events listed on the SVR website calendar.
· And checkout the new Porsche and Pints events ---- 3rd Thursday of the month starting in March. Just like the 1st Saturday breakfast, they will be informal and no reservation needed. Great idea from John Leet.
· If you have an event that you would like to calendar, just contact Mardi Quain, SVR Social Director, or any board member.
CRAB 38 is on track
· The CRAB 38 co-chairs, John Hawk and John Lanting, report that over 100 people have already signed up for the April weekend (also known as the Premier Porsche Weekend in the past). People from throughout the zone have already signed up. Have you?
Valentine’s Eve Dinner – February 13th
· Have you made your reservations for the dinner to be held on Monday, February 13th? You better get busy and get your check to Cyndee Peart today.
Formula e
· Seems that I forgot that the Formula e system was starting in January. So I am catching up with what is happening with the Tag Heuer Porsche racing team after 3 races.
· This is first year for the new Gen 3 cars.
· The team has replaced driver Andre Lotterer from last year with Antonio Felix da Costa. Da Costa has been racing since the series started (this is his 9th season ---- last year he drove for the Andretti team).
· The first race was in Mexico City and the result was won by Jake Dennis of the Avalanche Andretti Team in first place. Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein finished 2nd.
· The next 2 races were held in Diyiyah (Saudi Arabia) and Pascal Wehrlein won both of them. da Costa finished in 18th and 11th position.
· The next race is in Hyderabad (India) on February 11th and can be seen live on the CBS Sports Network.
Rolex 24 at Daytona
· This was the year that the GTP class returned (with hybrid) and Porsche had two cars entered. There were 9 cars in the class. There were 3 Cadillacs, 2 Acuras, 2 Porsches, and 2 BMWs..
· The Porsches finished 7th and 8th in class……..both experiencing mechanical/electrical issues.
· Look for these guys to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
