OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi
Dear SRS Parents and Guardians,

Earlier this week we celebrated another milestone in our pandemic journey; our first school-wide prayer service in the gym after a two year absence. Ironically, it was held two years to the day we began our remote learning initiative in 2020 to help “flatten the curve”. We were celebrating the birthday of Blessed Clelia Merloni, foundress of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sr. Anne’s religious order. Seeing all the students and teachers come together again as a school community in prayer and song, brought tears to my eyes. We are so grateful to God for guiding us safely through the worst of the pandemic and are thankful that we have Blessed Clelia interceding on our behalf.

Report cards will be sent home with your child tomorrow. Parents are asked to sign the report card envelope and return the empty envelope to your child’s teacher. Along with your child’s report card, I am including a free COVID testing kit courtesy of the State of Connecticut. Not to worry, I have close to 1000 free COVID kits in my office so I want to share my wealth with you. Report cards will be held for families with outstanding tuition balances.

This Friday, March 18, school will be closed so teachers can attend a Teachers’ Faith Formation day at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford. At this event, Denise Gertz will receive the “Light of Christ Award” and ten of our teachers will be recognized for their years of service in Catholic education. We are grateful to Matt Banas (10), Cindy Brennan(20), Joanna Robinson (15), Dolores Fortuna (20), Denise Gertz (22), Lori Gill (26), Bess McGrath (30), Theresa McKeon (25), Marie Rourke (11), and Donna Soliwoda (30) and all our teachers and staff members for their dedication to their students.

In mid-February the students and teachers began attending weekly 9:00 Friday Mass at St. Rita Church. Parents and grandparents are invited to join us each week in celebration of the Eucharist. Each class or club has been assigned a Mass so students participate as lectors and/or altar servers. Please join us if you can. The schedule is as follows: March 25-Gr. 5; April 1-NJHS; April 8-Gr. 4; April 29-Gr. 3; May 3-Gr. 6 & Pre K; May 20 -Gr. 2 & 8 ( possible May Crowning); May 27-Kind.; June 3-Gr. 8, and June 10-STUCO.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, please have your child accessorize their uniform with something green. “Wishing you a pot o’ gold and all the joy your heart can hold. May your home and all therein be blessed with God’s love.” Have a very happy St Patrick’s Day and a very holy St. Joseph Day!

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
