Quality of Life Survey Results Shared with Council, Public
Every few years, the City of Concord commissions an independent research firm to conduct a statistically-valid survey of residents to gauge their satisfaction with City services and the overall quality of life in Concord.

The most recent survey was conducted in January 2022 and captured the opinions of 678 Concord residents.

On March 8, researcher Bryan Godbe presented the findings to the City Council at its regular meeting. To view the meeting, the presentation slide deck, and the survey results, please visit our Quality of Life Survey web page.

While this survey asked respondents to share their priorities for how the City should spend one-time federal dollars from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), this survey is separate from the online surveys that the City has been promoting over the last two months. The results from those ARPA-specific surveys will be shared with Council at their April 26 meeting.

Town Hall Meeting to Address Housing in Concord
The City is hosting another Town Hall meeting on March 27 to inform, discuss, and seek feedback from the community on the City’s housing needs and potential future programs to include in the Housing Element.

The Housing Element is a State-mandated plan for addressing the City’s anticipated housing needs from 2023 through 2031. It is the primary document the City uses to plan for its current and future housing needs. It contains goals, policies and programs to provide adequate housing for all economic segments of the community. It also shows how the City plans to meet its State-mandated housing production target of 5,073 units by the year 2031. Regular updates are required by State law and help ensure the City’s housing policies are working for all community members.

Community members can learn more about the Housing Element Update, have conversations with the project team, provide input and feedback to help the City Council make well-informed decisions, and find out how to participate as the update continues. Spanish translation will be provided.

Water District Hosts Annual Art Contest for Youth
Contra Costa Water District has launched its annual Water Awareness Youth Art Contest. This is a fun activity that helps local youth learn about this precious resource and express their artistic talents.

The theme of this year’s contest is Reliable Water for Today and Tomorrow. Participating youth should write that theme on their artwork and illustrate what it means to them.

The art can show water at its source, during the treatment process or as part of the water cycle. Artists can also illustrate how water is used in the community, ways to save water, or why water is so important.

Winning entries receive a $75 gift card, printed copies of the calendar, and a certificate of appreciation. Contest details and the online submission form are available at ccwater.com/calendarcontest.
