Lexington Man Pleads Guilty to Civil Rights Violation and Firearms/Ammunition, Criminal Harassment Charges

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lexington Police Chief Michael McLean have announced that Robert Ivarson, 55, of Lexington, pleaded guilty to charges of civil rights violation, criminal harassment and illegally possessing dozens of firearms and ammunition.

Ivarson was arrested and charged in December 2016 and pleaded guilty before a Superior Court judge on Feb. 3, 2023, who sentenced him to 7 to 9 years in state prison, followed by 3 years of probation.

Weigh in on the Lincoln Park Master Plan; Community Webinar Feb. 16

The Recreation & Community Programs Department is currently working on a master plan for Lincoln Park. They will be hosting an upcoming webinar to share details and gather community input.

Thurs., Feb. 16 from 6:30-8 PM

The master plan will result in an independent review of the entire facility, outlining deficiencies and opportunities of all elements. There will be a final report of the findings and prioritized recommendations.

Police Headquarters Construction Update

If you've driven by the construction activity at the new Police Headquarters on Mass. Ave., you've likely seen a very large crane. The crane is in the process of placing steel beams as the makeup of the building continues to take shape.

This month, crews will be working to complete installation of all footings, walls, and columns.

COVID-19 Data; New Test Kits Available at Town Buildings; Old Test Kit Expiring Soon

The Lexington Office of Public Health will update weekly COVID-19 case numbers each Friday. The data represented on the dashboard DOES NOT include at-home test results. The data only represents results of PCR and antigen tests verified through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Test Kits Available

Free at-home rapid COVID-19 test kits are available at Town buildings across Lexington. Town buildings received a new shipment of tests that expire in August 2023. Old test kits that were picked up prior to mid-January 2023 are set to expire on January 26, 2023. Be sure to check the date on your test kit before using.

You can pick up a test at the following locations:

Town Office Building (Health Office) - 1625 Massachusetts Avenue
Fire Department - 45 Bedford Street
Police Department - 173 Bedford Street
Community Center - 39 Marrett Road
Visitors Center - 1875 Massachusetts Avenue
Public Services Building - 201 Bedford Street

Test kits are available during regular business hours (Police Dept. open 24/7) while supplies last.
