National President
Colleen Orfanello
Dear members,
We all are familiar with "Rosie the Riveter". Rosie is the epitome of the CAN DO and WILL DO spirit that each of us have. Hard work, dedication, and extraordinary effort keeps the MOPHA thriving; much as it did when Rosies kept our Country going strong.
We are more than half-way through our terms and I know that Units and Departments (and of course National) leadership officers are feeling fatigued. I am included in feeling overwhelmed and tired at times; but the next few months are crucial to being successful. Just like Rosies, we need to be strong and accomplish our goals and simply "get it done". Ladies and Gents, it is my wish that you join us on the monthly zoom call and BEE LIKE ROSIE. Find out what needs to be done, how to do it, and get it done. Because... We really CAN do it!
So join us, dress up like a Rosie (and perhaps wear a little green for good-luck" and learn about forms, inspections, and convention updates.

National Americanism Officer, CDCE Rep, and Sgt-at-Arms
Linda Varejcka
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of
ATTITUDE on life.
attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more
important than the past, than education, than money, than
circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what
other people think or say or do. It is more important than
appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a
company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is, we have a choice everyday regarding
the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change
our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a
certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only
thing we can do is play on the one strength we have and this
is our ATTITUDE.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90%
how I react to it.
And so it is with you...
WE ARE IN CHARGE OF OUR ATTITUDES
Linda

Region II President
Karen Larabel
Thank you for continuing to serve our Men and Women Veterans during the last year as we navigate Covid guidelines. We have learned new ways to accomplish a task, conduct meetings via ZOOM, more phone calls, texting, emails, messaging, thinking outside the box and the list goes on.
MOPHA Members as you prepare to consider an officer position within your Department or Unit, review that position duties and description. Also, if asked by the President to consider an appointed position, review that description and duties. See descriptions on our website: purpleheartauxiliary.org. Click on FORMS, then GO TO “Constitution and Bylaws”: Unit Officers & Appointed Positions – pp 12-14; Department Officers & Appointed Positions – pp20-23.
As you check your calendar and set reminders, our Departments and Units Installation Reports are DUE IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLATION BUT NO LATER THAN MAY 31. Submit Form to National Secretary, Region President, and Department Secretary. This report is the first of 3 reports: Installation Report-Due May 31, Finance Report-Due Oct 1, 990-N filing Confirmation-Due Oct 1.
Units and Departments not submitting reports, will not qualify for delegates at National Convention and the Life Membership Rebate.
The Installation Report Form is on our website: purpleheartauxiliary.org. Click on FORMS, scroll down to report needed. There is a online report and/or fillable report. The report can be saved and then attached to an email for quick delivery. If you have any questions or need help please contact me.
Looking forward to being with you on the NEXT ZOOM: MARCH 17, THURSDAY.
As the weather breaks and restrictions open up, I am looking forward to hearing of your veteran projects and events and seeing the photos to submit in the next GO!

Unit 1985's Finance Officer, Shania Huff will be introducing her first baby, a boy, to the unit in April. We held a baby shower at our meeting and included the patriots ( to help them shop they had to bring a bag of diapers). Receiving some very nice gifts including some hand made blankets she was very surprised. After the snacks and a heart felt thank you we got down to unit business.

PHOTOS of our DEPARTED HEROES NEEDED for MEMORIAL QUILT
|
|
Although formal invitations have not gone out yet, it is a tradition for the MOPH and MOPHA to participate in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington. This year, we are requesting photographs of fallen Heroes to be used in a memorial quilt. Photos do not need to be of Purple Heart recipients. Any photos of a deceased
Veteran is welcomed. Photos can be of any size but will be reduced in size to 3”x2” and be sewn onto a quilt (or quilts if we have more than expected photos.) Photos can be color or black and white. Volunteer quilters in Louisiana will be assembling and sewing quilts. We will share these quilts at the National Convention. Please reach out to family and friends and encourage them to share their loved one’s photo with us. More than one photo can be submitted. Photos should be emailed to PHOTOS.MOPHA@gmail.com. The deadline to submit a photo is March 31, 2022.
