As we come to the end of 2022, I invite you to take time to reflect on your year as you prepare to move forward into 2023.
Thinking back can provide valuable information to help us adapt to change and create new paths. We gain perspective through seeing our progress, appreciating the ups & downs and deciding what we want to hold onto and what we may want or need to discard.
We get a chance to re-evaluate and learn from what didn't go so well.
We also get an opportunity to scan for the positive, savor those moments and feel gratitude, all of which naturally boost our brain's feel-good hormones.
A few questions to get you started:
- What did you get better at this year?
- What accomplishment are you proud of?
- Where did you have an impact?
- What is a challenge you learned from?
- What is something that is still hard or painful that could use some compassion?
- What is a decision you made?
- What did you put off and why?
- What is something you would have done differently?
- Where were you most consistent?
- What made you laugh?
- What energized you this year?
- What was a favorite book(s) or podcasts(s)?
- What is something new you experienced?
- What is something new you learned?
- Which people in your life had the greatest influence?
- What/Who did you appreciate?
- What appreciations did you receive?
- Where/When did you feel most at peace?
These questions are also great conversation starters for yourself and for new or established relationships. They spark stories and stories often lead to deeper conversations and ah ha moments.
Give yourself the gift of reflection as we say farewell to 2022 and use your reflections as a guide to make 2023 the year you want it to be!
