2023 World Congress Scientific Program Co-Chairs Confirmed
The ISDE is pleased to announce the World Congress Scientific Program Committee Co-Chairs for the 2023 Congress, Nicholas J. Shaheen from the University of North Carolina Faculty of Medicine, Rebecca Fitzgerald from the University of Cambridge, and Wayne L. Hofstetter from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
This multi-specialty committee is currently developing a program that covers a range of topics devoted to increasing scientific and medical knowledge of the esophagus in disease and in health. Join us in Toronto, Canada next September 8-10, 2023 for the 19th ISDE World Congress.

We are pleased to introduce a member category specifically for early-career individuals who are less than five (5) years in consultancy. Early career members can access all the benefits for 30% less or more than the full member rate. Special rates are also available for colleagues in developing countries, and benefits include:

  • Join a community of like-minded professional peers 
  • Receive member-only updates and invitations to educational events or research surveys
  • Enjoy an electronic subscription to the Diseases of the Esophagus Journal 
  • Discounted rates to the 2023 ISDE World Congress in Toronto, Canada from September 8-10, 2023 
Join or Renew Your Membership Before December 31st

With the end of the year fast approaching, it’s time to renew your ISDE membership. New memberships or renewals submitted from now until the end of the year are carried over to 2023. If you aren’t a member, don’t miss out. There are multiple levels of membership to suit your circumstances including:
  • Regular Member* – physician, surgeon
  • Developing Country Member* – physician or surgeon from a developing country
  • Early-Career Member – physician or surgeon with less than five years of consultancy
  • Early Career Developing Country Member – physician or surgeon with less than five years of consultancy from a developing country
  • Associate Health Professional – non-physician health professionals interested in the esophagus including (but not limited to) health educators, medical science liaisons (MSL), nurses, nutritionists, pharmacists, physical therapists, researchers, scientists, and speech therapists.
  • Member-in-training* - anyone currently in residency or fellowship training or shall be in pursuit of an advanced degree in a field of scientific inquiry

Raising Awareness for GERD Week
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Week, or GERD week for short occurred, November 20-26, 2022 and ISDE put out a series of awareness raising posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Our goal is to provide ways for our members and community at large working with this disease to raise awareness of your expertise within your own networks. To this end, we invite you to share these posts with your own message by following or visiting us on social media.

Early Registration Deadline is Tomorrow - December 1st

The ESDE is the premier multi-disciplinary European organization, a branch of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE), covering all aspects of esophageal diseases and disorders. Its annual meetings aim to gather together all specialties involved in the clinical management and research of esophageal diseases. The recent, rapid developments in molecular biology, diagnosis, staging, and treatments for esophageal both benign and malignant diseases require continuous education.
