A fundraiser for Thornton Creek Parent Group and

Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance

SPS has announced significant budget cuts for next year, and this parallel fundraiser is a key tool to help mitigate the impact on students both at TC and across Seattle. The amount you choose to give to each of these organizations is entirely up to you. Funds raised for Thornton Creek Parent Group will help bridge significant budget shortfalls identified at our school for next school year, including staffing gaps. Funds raised for Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance will be equally distributed across 17 Southend schools. Every dollar raised makes a difference in supporting our students. Now let's have some fun on the field!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Starting now and leading up to the Friday, May 19 Move-A-Thon event, students and parents/caregivers can contribute in the following ways:

Students:

Set one or more personal goals on the Move-A-Thon worksheet sent home or access here (Click HERE for Move-A-Thon goal worksheet, and another one HERE for the distinct classrooms with additional movement options)
Participate at school on the field on May 19th in a variety of activities to get bodies moving. Dress for the weather - it is expected to be warm!

Parents/caregivers:

Consider donating and sharing this parallel fundraiser for Thornton Creek Parent Group and Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance with family, friends and neighbors.

The Move-A-Thon is an all school celebration on May 19 to advance these goals:

1) Supporting a healthy community - fresh air, exercise and being with our friends! With a variety of activities and the opportunity for kids to create personal goals for the event, we celebrate our differences and strengthen our community. Support students progress with a donation to TCPG!

2) Supporting our school: Donating to TCPG allows us to help ensure Expeditionary Learning at TC remains intact and that every student gets to participate fully! Budget cuts from the district are especially deep for next year, and fundraising efforts will help bridge these deep cuts to aim to maintain stability for our students. Past gifts helped fund:

Certificated staff (e.g. academic interventionists)
Equity and Access Fund
Hourly Assistants
Aid for Families in need in our school community

3) Supporting other schools: Donate to the Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance - a coalition of southend schools whose mission is to use the collaborative fundraising model to distribute parent-raised funds and uplift District 7 schools - support their goal of $500,000, which will be equitably distributed to each of the 17 participating Southeast Seattle schools.
