An important message from our Director of Health and Safety:

Dear Kehillah,
I want to commend everyone for a safe and healthy autumn, in terms of COVID19 protocols. Projections for the winter are uncertain; as a school and in the greater Bay Area we are highly vaccinated (which is great), but as a state and a country less so. Echoing the sentiments of the infectious disease experts, we need to remain diligent as we go into the holiday season. Of course, we want everyone to be able to celebrate with family and friends, but we also have to take some extra precautions to make sure that we are able to continue learning in person after travel and the likely spike in cases that we will see this winter.

Kehillah has adopted the CDC recommendations for international and domestic travel as our policy. Kehillah recommends testing before traveling to keep those whom you are visiting safe and requires a PCR test five days after return from travel. Any individual who travels by airplane or train or crosses the US border and is not vaccinated will have to attend school remotely while they await post-travel test results. We will provide testing on Tuesday, November 23 and on Thursday, December 2.
Weekly testing is part of our protocols and is instrumental in helping to keep our community safe. We are adding an additional day of testing on Wednesday to help alleviate test day congestion and to ensure all students have an open block on one of the testing dates.
Two other exciting developments with regards to testing are a move to a "test-to-stay" policy with regards to close contacts and having Antigen tests on hand for when a community member is not feeling well. The "test-to-stay" policy will allow vaccinated students who have been determined to be a close contact of someone who tested positive for COVID19 to remain at school as long as they have a negative Antigen COVID19 test each morning, for five days.
Kehillah will also have Antigen tests on hand so that as we move into the cold and flu season, no one has to play the dangerous game of "is it or isn’t it COVID19?" Of course, if you are feeling unwell, stay home. We do not want to share colds or the flu either.
Have a wonderful and healthy Thanksgiving!

With the Thanksgiving holiday break around the corner, we're reminded of how grateful we are for our Kehillah, and ask that you consider participating in the 2021-22 Kehillah Fund if you have not done so already. Your gift supports upgrades to classrooms which allow students to develop 21st-Century skills, professional development enabling teachers to bring best practices to campus, and life-changing opportunities for students. The Kehillah Fund also supports grade-level class trips, to ensure all students are able to participate in experiences that make memories of a lifetime.

Vending machines at Kehillah!
We have brought two vending machines to our campus to help supplement lunches brought from home. Your student may have mentioned the two new machines which received a lot of immediate attention.
It will take a few weeks to establish our prefered food options but the intention is to offer items such as entrees, fresh snacks, and a variety of beverages. All items will be kosher, peanut-free, and vegetarian. We are working closely with StuGov to ensure that the vending machines do not compete with the snacks that StuGov is successfully selling to the student body.
Students can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, and/or cash. We will continue our efforts towards establishing a lunch program again but in the meantime we hope this is a helpful addition. Stay tuned for more updates.
