NOVEMBER HIGHLIGHTS
ANNUAL TURKEY DRIVE
YSU deputies and EGSRO's held the Sheriff's Activities League's (SAL) annual turkey drive at multiple Walmart locations. The goal of the turkey drive was to provide families in need with a Thanksgiving turkey. The generosity of the Sacramento community was greatly appreciated as they donated over 350 turkeys!
SAL would like to thank all the volunteers that made the turkey drive successful!
TURKEY GIVEAWAYS
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
Youth Services Unit (YSU) deputies partnered with Raley's and the Sacramento Kings to donate frozen turkeys to families in need at the Boys & Girls Club. For Thanksgiving students and their families were appreciative and happy to see deputies again!
ASIAN RESOURCES, INC. (ARI)
ANNUAL TOY DRIVES
The Sacramento Sheriff's Toy Project and SAL partnered with Walmart at six locations during the month of November to collect toys for kids during the holiday season.
During the toy drives, we collected thousands of new and unwrapped toys, bicycles, and warm clothing for children of all ages! Toys donated will be distributed to families in need.
SAL would like to thank volunteers who came out to the event and the generous community!
TIP-A-COP
Deputies partnered with several law enforcement agencies and participated in a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics Northern California. We would like to thank Texas Roadhouse in Elk Grove and Citrus Heights for sponsoring this great event.
Together, we can help raise awareness and funds that directly benefit the lives of more than 21,250 Special Olympic athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout Northern California.
YOUNG MARINES
The Young Marines meet monthly to participate in drill. Deputies encourage healthy habits and teamwork to get through adverse circumstances.
SAL would like to thank the Young Marines for assisting in this years toy drive!
STEPPING STONES ELEMENTARY
Deputies held a presentation at Stepping Stones Elementary. Deputies handed out coloring books, discussed when to dial 9-1-1, displayed their vehicles, and handed out stickers.
DYER KELLY
Deputies attended a Jog-A-Thon at Dyer-Kelly Elementary. Deputies displayed the Humvee, played music, and cheered students on!
BEST BUDDIES
ANTELOPE HIGH SCHOOL
The Best Buddies program is held weekly at Antelope High School during the school year. This program allows both Antelope High students and deputies to mentor students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
FRIENDSGIVING AT CENTER HIGH SCHOOL
FLORIN LAW ACADEMY (FLA) MENTORING PROGRAM
Deputies participated in the Florin Law Academy mentoring program. The goal of the mentor program is to increase diversity in the legal profession by providing education, training, and opportunities to low-income, at-risk students.

Sheriff staff help students develop leadership and job skills while providing them with a platform to learn about and explore rewarding career opportunities in public service and the legal industry.

Over the years, the mentor program has helped hundreds of students create and pursue their college and career goals. Mentors range from Crime Analysts Officers, Record Officers, Deputies, Dispatchers, Sergeants, and Captains.

COUNCIL FOR YOUNG MEN & GIRLS CIRCLE
Every Tuesday, at Barrett Ranch Elementary, deputies host a Girls Circle and a Council for Young Men group.
Deputies facilitate many different topics such as self-respect, bullying, resisting peer pressure, and much more.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
Twice a month, deputies help facilitate the Youth Leadership Council (YLC). YLC is a program designed to help develop and strengthen leadership skills.

YLC students will begin to organize holiday events such as Shop with a Cop (SWAC).

For further information on YLC, contact Lieutenant Hodgkins at shodgkins@sacsheriff.com.
FAMILY NIGHT AT LIBERTY TOWERS
YSU deputies participate in Liberty Tower's "Family Night" every Thursday. This allows deputies to foster positive relationships with the community!

S.H.O.C.K.
The S.H.O.C.K. program takes on a leadership role by partnering with community-based organizations, local businesses, and other youth-serving agencies to reach out to those youth considered at-risk for making poor choices in their lives.

Chronic absenteeism, continuous disruption to classroom learning, signs of experimentation with drugs and/or alcohol, as well as involvement with the gang lifestyle are considered behaviors that could lead to devastating life-long consequences.

This program is designed to:

  • Redirect negative behavior

  • Provide partnerships with law enforcement, the community, and schools

  • Increase understanding of the criminal justice system

  • Emphasize the legal consequences of violating the law
S.H.O.C.K. is a structured program that provides juveniles with incentives, team building activities, and motivates them through positive reinforcement.

If you would like to refer an at-risk juvenile, click on the link provided below. We are now accepting applications for S.H.O.C.K. 2022.
If you have any questions regarding S.H.O.C.K. contact Kristy Walls at kwalls@sacsheriff.com
