And the Winning Number is $8,245.44!

On behalf of the Saint James Mission & Justice Committee, thank you to all who participated in our online auction and giving drive for the Lancaster County Food Hub!! We will be presenting a check in the amount of $8,245.44 to the Hub as a result of the online auction and additional cash donations received!

In February of this year, clergy made a gift of $2,500 from their discretionary account which is funded by contributions from parishioners bringing our total gift to $10,745.44.

Throughout our parish, parishioners and friends procured and/or donated 69 auction items resulting in 270 bids. A flurry of bidding activity proved engaging and successful with over 30 bidders competing for the Godiva Sweet Delights basket, and the top 10 list including a stay at a lovely Chesapeake Bay cottage and a round of golf at Lancaster County Country Club. We hope everyone enjoys their auction winning items and experiences!

Most importantly, your efforts will go a long way in helping the neighbors in our community with the resources they need the most—food, clothing and shelter. THANK YOU!
The Upper Room
Men's Group
Breakfast

August 20, 8:30 - 10:30 AM in the forum room

Join the Upper Room Men's Group in the parish house forum room for breakfast on August 20th. Men of all ages are welcome to this time of food, fellowship and thought-provoking discussion.

Special thanks to Mel Lucht for his presentation on Anthony Ray Hinton at our last meeting. Hinton was sentenced to death and held on Alabama's death row for 28 years before he was exonerated and released in 2015. His is the story of forgiveness, grace and compassion.

At our August meeting, we'll chat with Phil Norris about his experience trekking throughout Europe for five weeks.

Ministry Opportunities at Saint James
Volunteers are needed for the following ministries.
Ollie's Closet Coordinator Needed

Now in its 11th year, the Ollie's Closet ministry helps children at Carter and MacRae Elementary School—most of whom live at or below the poverty level.

This outreach program provides practical help to students who need everything from uniforms, backpacks and notebooks to crayons, tissues and toothbrushes.

A coordinator is needed for about 6 weeks in August/September to help with this year's campaign. Orientation and support from team members is provided.

Click here for more information on Ollie's Closet. If interested, contact Rex Grubb at 717-786-3382 or robtrgrubb@epix.net or Lissa Olson 717-406-7207 or lissao49@gmail.com.
Academic Mentoring & Tutoring Coordinator Needed at Carter and MacRae Elementary School

Mentoring at Carter and MacRae Elementary School is about so much more than teaching. As you spend time with students, you get to know them and become a significant person in their lives.

The in-classroom one-on-one attention helps nurture these children, many of whom come from families with language deficiencies, second-shift jobs and/or parental incarceration.

A coordinator is needed to help schedule the mentors. Click here for more information on academic mentoring. If interested, contact Rex Grubb at 717-786-3382 or robtrgrubb@epix.net or Lissa Olson 717-406-7207 or lissao49@gmail.com.
