Greetings!

Coming off an incredibly busy holiday period with the rollout of the Capital Region Food Program's (CRFP) Holiday Voucher Pilot, the organization has been continuously monitoring the impact of subsidy program changes that are currently underway.

Although it’s unclear what these changes will mean in the near-term to the CRFP partner agencies and the families they serve, we do know that historically summer does put an additional strain on household grocery budgets with children at home more.

Through the Year Round Distribution Project, the CRFP will continue to meet the demands of our partner agencies and food pantries, providing access to nutritional supplemental foods at no cost.

The Capital Region Food Program

Update from the

Year Round Distribution Project

The Year Round Distribution Project (YRDP) has experienced a steady demand from our partner agencies this year.

As of May's distribution, the YRDP has provided supplemental foods to twenty agencies, with an aggregate value of more than $37,000.

The most commonly requested products have been Spaghetti O's, corned beef hash, beef stew and canned pineapple.

It is anticipated that 2023 will be a period of adjustment for those who receive supplemental assistance, as a number of the pandemic related benefit programs continue to unwind. It may take several months to fully understand how these changes may impact needs within our service area.

Capital Region Food Program's Hometown Hero

The Capital Region Food Program's very own Maria Manus Painchaud was recently highlighted as a Hometown Hero by the Concord Monitor.

The Hometown Hero project began in 2020 as a way to recognize community members whose work or volunteer efforts are making an impact on others.

Congratulations Maria, and thank you for your endless dedication to the organization's mission!

Fun Food Facts

June 12th is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day

Peanut butter is one of the most popular pantry staples in the United States, and is one of the least expensive sources of plant protein.

July is National Blueberry Month

Blueberries are certified as heart-healthy through the American Heart Association, and are widely available at NH pick-your-own farms during July and August.

Your support is vital to our success. All gifts are tax-deductible within limits prescribed by law and all dollars donated to the Capital Region Food Program are used to purchase food.
