Coalition news & updates
Hello All,

For those that attended, I hope you had a great TASA conference.

If you haven't already, please encourage your team to fill out the attendance survey as soon as possible. Only nine of the BCEC member districts have responded so far.

I have a couple of updates and materials to share with you:

  1. Final Copy of the Letter to the City of San Antonio
  2. Updated Rules for LEA Maintenance of Equity Submissions
  3. Materials from Raise Your Hand Texas Accountability Forum
  4. Preliminary Property Value Study from the Comptroller

Please register for the upcoming webinar with Greg Conde from the Broadband Development office who will be interviewed by the incredible Dr. Lloyd Verstuyft on February 16th at 8:30am.

Lastly, unfortunately the SBOE did approve the updated contract abandonment rules that BCEC submitted comments against. The new rules will be effective on March 3rd.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Julia
Final Copy of Letter to City of San Antonio
Thank you all for the quick response and approval of the letter to the City of San Antonio City Council and Mayor. Here is a link to the final copy of the letter that was sent yesterday.

This morning the Council is engaging in a final discussion and vote on the spending framework. Initial summary of the strategic framework presented by the City Manager's office lists Digital Inclusion and Youth categories unchanged and both will remain funded at $8.4 million and $10 million, respectively.

However, there is some concern that some of those funds may be moved around during the committee work. BCEC will continue to follow the discussion.
Updated Guidance on Maintenance of Equity
TEA has released update guidance on Maintenance of Equity rules for LEAs. Notifications of error regarding inclusion/exclusion from the list
of automatically excepted LEAs and MOEquity Document Submission Plan are due on March 4th. Updated page here.
Recordings and Presentations from Raise Your Hand Texas Accountability Symposium
Raise Your Hand Texas has released all of the presentations and recordings from their recent Accountability Symposium.

You can find a page with all of the recordings and power points here.

I highly recommend the watching or reviewing the presentation by Dee Carney: The Past, Present, and Future of Assessment and Accountability in Texas as well as watching or reviewing the presentation by John Tanner: Paths to Different Accountability Frameworks

Preliminary Property Value Study from the Comptroller
The Comptroller released the preliminary property value study earlier this week.

You can find a link your district's property value here.

Over the next few weeks, TEA will update your state aid based on the results of this property value study. If you disagree with the values you have 40 days from the release to protest the estimate.
Save the Date - February 16th 8:30am
Greg Conde, Director of the Broadband Development Office (BDO), is going to be interviewed by the fantastic Dr. Lloyd Verstuyft on September 16th at 8:30am. These two incredible leaders will discuss the work the BDO is doing across Texas and how it will effect Bexar County over the next few years.

If you have questions that you'd like to ask Greg, please email me and we will add them to the interview list!
