Dear SCCC Members,

Another year has passed, another SCCC Administrator & Marketing Coordinator will move on and we are able to welcome another successor!

Nina Hofmann was part of the SCCC for a little over a year. She started her Canada adventure beginning of 2022. Her first onboarding steps took place remotely but soon after she was able to settle into an apartment in Vancouver. Nina was able to evolve her skills and experience living abroad and being part of a not-for-profit organization, as well as supporting our member SBO Distributors Ltd. in the back office. Over the next few months, Nina will spend some time traveling North and Central America before returning to Switzerland.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Nina for her excellent work and support within the SCCC organization. She helped the Board of Directors to get successful through the post pandemic time. We wish Nina the very best for her further career.

Along with Nina's goodbye, I would like to welcome our new Administrator & Marketing Coordinator - Pauline Delaveau. Starting March-01-2023, Pauline will be on a 50/50 work schedule for the SCCC and Quality Coffee Systems. The entire SCCC team is currently working on a smooth and timely transition. A welcome interview will be published in our March newsletter to get to know more about Pauline.

We are looking forward to an interesting and successful 2023.

Best regards,

Fabian Lemann

SCCC Fondue Night 2023

The Swiss and cheese is a love story that does not end when you move abroad. So it’s no surprise that the annual Fondue Night hosted by the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Swiss Canadian Mountain Range Association was a huge success. More than 80 people came together to share their love of one of the most popular Swiss dishes – the fondue. The tastefully decorated chalet created a cozy atmosphere and made each and every Swiss expat feel as if they were at home in the Swiss Alps.

Abbotsford Innovation Network

Our board member Johann Roduit and some like-minded people launched the Abbotsford Innovation Network this month.

"The challenge of innovation in the Fraser Valley, says Johann Roduit, is that it’s always looking up to Vancouver. There’s lots of reasons why that shouldn’t be the case. Roduit, a founding partner of Conexkt — a full-service innovation studio — lists agritech, healthtech, and aviation as the three areas in which he feels Abbotsford best excels, but notes that there’s plenty more tech and innovation companies that don’t fall into those categories. A major reason the ecosystem isn’t growing as swiftly as the juggernaut to the west, he says, is that leaders are siloed."

His solution? The Abbotsford Innovation Network (AIN)."
