Accreditation Newsletter - Volume 5

January 20, 2023

Dear AVC Community,

Happy New Year, and welcome back to the Spring Semester!

I am glad to report that we shared the final Draft of ISER with the Academic Senate, Executive Council, the President, & the Board, as well as other constituents. Then, the ISER was submitted to ACCJC on December 15, 2022. We are awaiting the formative feedback from the ACCJC, based on which we may need to provide any additional information requested before the college’s site visit in the fall. This new step in the accreditation process is designed to provide for smoother site visits, in which changes will be made to the draft based on the feedback we receive.

Thanks to the Accreditation Committee members, the Standard Leads, and everyone who worked hard to bring the process thus far in one way or another. I especially appreciate two of my colleagues who reviewed the final ISER, Greg Langner and Richie Hao.

Our site visit is during the week of Monday, September 18, 2023. Please review the ISER in the shared drive and spread the word at your department or division meetings between now and then. Also, share the news of the Peer Reviewers’ Site Visit with your students and everyone on campus. An awareness of the Site Visit as a Campus Community is crucial.

In sum, we are on course with our Accreditation Timeline, and I thank everyone for their hard work. Should you have any questions about this update, especially the upcoming Site Visit, please do not hesitate to email or call me (madebayoige@avc.edu and Ext. 6812).

In Collaboration,

Morenike Adebayo-Ige
