Friends,

As the long days of winter begin to fade, I'm reminded that spring is just around the corner. Our students and faculty are once again traveling around the world this February vacation through the Hyde Center for Global Education. We said good-bye to our friends from Colegio del Salvador (Argentina) who were here visiting on exchange and we are eager to continue to explore new sites this year.

Our winter athletes continue to perform at their peak as they enter state championships and tournaments over the next few weeks. Be sure to stay tuned in to cheer on the Eagles!

With our mid-year assessments wrapped up, I'd like to particularly thank Dr. Tom Smith, Dean of Teaching & Learning, Alison MacDonald, Vice Principal for Teaching & Learning, Morgan Soutter, Vice Principal for Operations, and Jen Fraser, Learning Enhancement Specialist, for their diligent work in preparing, organizing, and overseeing the mid-year exam process. Our mid-year assessments provide an opportunity for our faculty to reflect on student progress and assess the remainder of their course work for the second half of the year.

When students return from February vacation, the Class of 2023 will begin their countdown to graduation. The recognition of their hard work is pouring in with acceptances at amazing colleges and universities all over the globe. They have fully embraced being leaders in the House System and we are eager to see the torch passed to the next class. The excitement continues as the House competitions heat up this spring!

Principal Adam Lewis shared the exciting news with the community last week that we have hired Dr. Dennis Hill as our next Director of the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. You can read more about Dr. Hill in our bi-annual DEI report below. We look forward to welcoming Dr. Hill for a few days per week in March and he'll join us full-time later this spring when his teaching responsibilities conclude at Southern New Hampshire University. He's very excited to join our community and become an integral partner in our work.

And, as we prepare for the Lenten season, a time of fasting and preparation, I hope you find time to reflect and consider where you find Christ each day. Please join us as we celebrate Lent at BC High this year.
AMDG,

Grace Cotter Regan P'12

Joining in Celebration for the Annual MLK, Jr. Prayer Service
On Friday, January 13, we celebrated our annual MLK Jr. Prayer Service which was led by the Black Latino Student Union, and focused on the stories of our students and how they transform our community each day. We celebrated the day in worship and song with all of our Houses, Board of Trustees, parents, faculty and staff, and our friends at Fontbonne and Notre Dame Academy. We are thankful to the student speakers; keynote speaker, Dr. J. Keith Motley; musicians Chris Bender and Joshua Hennes '25; Matt Thompson '18; and AJ Okereke '10 who inspired us throughout the service. Our King House Patron, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will always be known to our students for his fortitude, perseverance, and his commitment to justice.
Student - Athletes Honored on National Signing Day
We are thrilled to share in the excitement of our student-athletes who will continue their athletic pursuits at the next level. Nearly 25 students will continue to perform at the highest level and bring their experience of playing in a competitive Catholic Conference with them. Go Eagles!

Parent Speaker Series
Over the course of the next few months, we will bring together a series of speakers that provide an opportunity for parents, faculty, staff, and friends to hear from experts on topics that are particularly important for our students. Through the generosity of the BC High Parents' Association, Office of Student Life, Office of School & College Counseling, the Academic Resource Center, and the President's Office, these speakers each present topics that are timely and critical in forming young men.

Last Wednesday, February 15, we welcomed a terrific crowd to hear from Dr. Carrie James, co-author of Behind Their Screens: What Teens are Facing and Parents are Missing. Stay tuned for more upcoming speakers!
Honoring Black History Month
Throughout February, we have been celebrating Black History Month. Anthony Docanto '15, Pro Head of House, Social Studies was instrumental in organizing the work this year which includes speakers, presentations, movies, visual displays, to name a few. Thank you, Anthony, for keeping our community connected and informed.

BC Hire: Career Connections
BC Hire Career Connections has become a terrific program for our young alumni. This year, we have welcomed back alumni speakers to in-person luncheons for our current students as well. These programs help strengthen the alumni network and set BC High apart from other schools.

BC Hire Career Connections supports BC High’s current students and young alumni in securing meaningful summer jobs and internships, laying the groundwork for career success. Many of these internship opportunities are provided by the powerful BC High Alumni Network and our highly engaged parent community, while others are offered by firms in Greater Boston.

For more information, contact Kenny Delino '16, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, kdelino@bchigh.edu or visit the BC Hire page.
