An Interprofessional Approach to ED Care for Older Adults
Started in 2021, the UCSF Department of Emergency Medicine has created a comprehensive and age-friendly emergency department (AFED) pathway at Parnassus, as increasing numbers of older adults are seeking medical care.

Call for Applications: PIPE Associate Director
The UCSF Program for Interprofessional Practice and Education (PIPE) Associate Director for PIPE will work closely with the PIPE Executive Director, faculty leadership from the schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy and the Physical Therapy program, PIPE committee chairs, and PIPE administrative support to advance interprofessional education and practice at UCSF and its affiliated sites. Applicants must be current faculty members and have demonstrated commitment to interprofessional education and collaborative care and current or previous work in developing IPE curricula and strong leadership and organization skills. Announcing Our 2022 Clarion Team
We are excited to announce this year’s UCSF team for the Clarion National Case Competition: Anthony Castro (School of Dentistry), Stephanie Ly (School of Pharmacy), Nolan Woo (School of Nursing), and Siavash Zamirpour (School of Medicine).

The team will work with team coaches Trang Trinh, PharmD, MPH (SOP) and Shieva Khayam-Bashi, MD (SOM).

The interprofessional student team is given a fictionalized case and must work collaboratively to perform a root cause analysis. This year's theme is Solving for Burnout: A focus on belonging in healthcare teams and organizations. The competition will be held remotely on April 8-9, 2022. We wish the team the best of luck!
Reflections on Experiential IPE from a Nurse Practitioner
In a blog post for the International Clinician Educators Network, UCSF alum Laura Sanchez, RN shared insights on the significant value of experiential interprofessional education as part of geriatrics education at UCSF. Laura completed a year-long clinical rotation primarily within UCSF Care at Home, a home-based primary care program for older adults. She said, "Having seen interdisciplinary care in action through a year-long geriatric clinical rotation truly conveyed its significance in fostering quality care and improved patient outcomes." read more
