"Helping the World Discover Adel" Vol. 153 July 2021
|
Welcome to July in Adel!
The Dallas County Fair returns this month. Like many small town kids, the local county fair was my first experience of varied exhibits, rides, livestock judging and of course, "Fair" food. It was the gateway for Cattle Congress and the State Fair. But my first love is the county fair. Over the upcoming July 4th weekend I'm planning to take my grandkids to see the new Nile Kinnick Jr. memorial near 9th Street. The impact of one humble person giving their all has on a community, state and country is a story that should be passed onto the next generation, especially now.
From Concerts to Movies under the Stars and More! We have a full gamut of fun and interesting things to do this month and we can't wait to tell you about them.
So grab a cup of coffee, there's a lot to cover this month and we look forward to seeing you in Adel. Chris

A JOY to share: VBS Day Camp was held on June 23rd. A community wide event for kids 5yrs-5th grade sponsored by local churches. It was a day of teaching and learning about how we as disciples of Jesus can do His work in our community and the world.

John D. Gomke 2021 Charity Classic Thank You!
As our 12th John D Gomke Charity Classic (JDGCC) comes to an end I cannot help but sit and smile as our hearts our overwhelmed.
Joined by family, old friend and new friends we gathered to celebrate our Angels watching over us and raise money to educate and help prevent future heartaches of infant loss. This was definitely a year we will talk about for a long time... starting Friday out with 28 4-some in 95 degree with an hour-and-a-half lighting delay and nonstop down pouring rain 5 holes into the round.
Taking shelter in multiple places, including a bathroom. Ending with Saturday having perfect weather for two sessions hosting 21 and 22 4-somes and being able to give away four Owlets to new and expecting parents due to the generosity that started with an Angel families and continued with some of our amazing golfers. See more on this in another post. THANK YOU to everyone who made this weekend possible.
