TxDOT opens eastbound lanes on RM 620 overpass
The Texas Department of Transportation reopened the newly constructed RM 620 overpass to eastbound traffic on Jan. 6. All eastbound traffic can now use the overpass beginning at Briarwood Street to travel directly to I-35. Chisholm Trail will be accessible via the eastbound frontage road.

Council OKs road project agreements with Wilco
The Round Rock City Council approved three interlocal agreements with Williamson County for future transportation projects at their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Jan. 12. Through the agreements, the County will commit funding to projects to widen County Road 112 and extend Old Settlers Boulevard.

Routes change ahead of transit improvements
The City of Round Rock has implemented changes to public transit routes as a result of the recently completed Transit Development Plan. The changes in effect since Jan. 9 include adjustments and reductions to fixed routes. In the coming months, the City will introduce a new “mobility-on-demand” service to provide more flexibility in its transit network.

Round Rock Police reopen 1983 cold case
Round Rock Police are re-investigating a 1983 murder occurring at the Cactus Lounge at 109 N. Sheppard St. The suspect, Martin Gallegos, remains a fugitive with an active murder warrant. He was last seen in Mexico in 2017, and a statute of limitations for international extradition of murder warrants has recently changed, prompting police to reopen the case.

The public is invited to join the City of Round Rock for the grand opening of the new Round Rock Public Library building. The event will include family-friendly activities and residents will be able to learn more about the new facility.

MLK Jr. Day Walk and Celebration

1:30-3:30 p.m.
Buck Egger Park, 900 S. Mays St. and Baca Center, 301 W. Bagdad Ave.

The public is invited to join the Round Rock Black History Organization for the Martin Luther King Jr. Walk and Celebration. Participants will walk from Buck Egger Park starting at 1:30 p.m. to the Baca Center, where a celebration will take place starting at 2 p.m.

Families of individuals with disabilities are invited to a night full of wonder and amazement at the annual Family Winter Ball. Dress to impress and join us for dancing, fun and family! Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited and tickets are pre-sale only and $5 per person. Each family member attending must purchase a ticket. This is a family-centered event, focusing on individuals with various disabilities of all ages.
