Morning Star School Mission Statement

Dear Morning Star Friends and Families,
Celebrating Catholic School’s Week at Morning Star: January 31 – February 4

This year Morning Star will be collecting canned meat pasta and/or canned ravioli.

Monday Celebrating Community: A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. When students take part in service activities, they demonstrate the values and faith gained through Catholic education.

Tuesday Celebrating Students: Schools celebrate students during National Catholic Schools Week by planning enjoyable and meaningful activities for them and recognizing their accomplishments.

Wednesday Celebrating the Nation: On National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools, students, families, educators, and other Catholic school supporters communicate the value of Catholic education to government leaders.

Thursday Celebrating Vocations: By focusing on faith, knowledge, and service, Catholic schools prepare children to use their God-given talents to the fullest throughout their lives.

Friday Celebrating Staff, Faculty, and Volunteers: On this day, schools will honor teachers and principals as well as administrators and staff who support them in their work and thank those who provide volunteer service. 

  • Monday- Holy Cow It’s Catholic School’s Week! Dress in black, white, and brown day

  • Tuesday- $1.00 Dress Down Day! Donations will go to Catholic Charities

  • Wednesday- Celebrating our Nation! Red, White, and Blue dress down day

  • Thursday- Pajama Day!

  • Friday- Crazy hair, hat, socks, and/or clothes day! Mix it Up

Catholic Schools Week
January 31st - February 4th is Catholic Schools Week. For more information, please read Ms. Shott's letter above.

Please remember to send in canned meat pasta or canned ravioli next week. All food collected goes to under served communities in Jacksonville.
Friday, April 29th at 7:00pm is the date of our musical which is Mary Poppins this year.

Donations for costumes and props are needed. Please click HERE to view the Sign Up Genius and donate.
REMINDERS
Now that the Sisters of Saint Joseph are settled in their new home they have been working on fixing up the yard. Donations of bags of red mulch are needed. If you would like to donate please deliver the mulch to the sister's house at 681 Mickler Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. If you have questions, please contact Sister Elise at kennede@aol.com
EVENTS
Malta Anointing Mass

The ancient Order of Malta is hosting an Anointing Mass, with soaring sacred music from the Jacksonville University Choir! The celebrant is Fr. John Tetlow Pastor of the Basilica St. Augustine. Testimonies from past attendees say this is the most beautiful Mass they have ever attended. Please mark your calendar today so that you and your family do not miss this Mass!

When: 11:00am - 12:15am


PRIMARY
Students enjoyed their song practice for Mass!
Primary students created wonderful winter art using different mediums such as paint, paper, oil pastels, and glitter.
INTERMEDIATE
Students learned about a Japanese form of storytelling called Kamishibai which uses vibrant picture cards and the words on the back. Students watched the story of, “Little One Inch”, and created a story plate to help them retell the story. On the story plate they needed to have the main characters, objects, location, and mode of travel to the location. 
JUNIOR HIGH
Students created stellar, starry galaxy art. Beautiful!

Our High School walls are covered in incredible art!
