It is less than a week to the launch of Family Medicine Plus on April 1. We’re excited about this new model and the difference it will make for family physicians and the patients they serve, now, and into the future.
We want to express our thanks to everyone who has been part of this journey so far, and extend our gratitude to the FM+ Advisory Committee for their advice and assistance. Committee members include Dr. Nichelle Desilets, Dr. Fourie Smith, Dr. Carrie Lafournaise, Dr. Michael Plewes, Dr. Sameer Kassim, and Dr. Carol Holmes. Clinic managers Darcy Bell and Sandi Levandowski also provided support.
We also want to ensure you have what you need for the launch on April 1st. We will provide an ongoing resource for this new remuneration model, which was developed with extensive feedback from family physicians like you.FM+ was negotiated and designed based on your requests for more predictable funding, recognition of the disease burdens managed in family physicians’ practices, and enhanced non-volume-based remuneration for services provided for patients. This new model will also support family physicians who provide lifelong care, starting with newborns.
