GOT OLD PALMS? As we now turn our minds to Ordinary Time, we cannot forget that Lent is just around the corner. Traditionally, the ashes that are used for Ash Wednesday are from the charred remains of the palms from the year before. Please bring in your old palms over the next few weeks. There will be a basket at the back of the chapel to receive them. We will then burn the palms and ready the ashes for distribution. Thank you for your assistance.

IS SINGING IN CHOIR ONE OF YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS? If so, why not consider joining our parish choir? We are a vibrant and welcoming group of people who enjoy singing together and supporting the prayer of our worshipping community. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. Contact Janet at janet.loo@kings.uwo.ca or 519-433-3491 ext. 4528 if interested.

FAITH TALK: We’re excited to host Sr. Kathy McKee, a member of the Little Sisters of Jesus in Walsingham, England and a native of London, Ontario, for a talk after our Tuesday evening 7:00 PM. Mass on January 31, 2023 in the Parish Hall. She will be speaking about “The Spirituality of the Visitation.” Find out what Mary’s visit to her cousin, Elizabeth, says about the way we could be living out our Christian faith today.

THE VERITAS LECTURE SERIES engages speakers from a variety of backgrounds to explore the depth of human experience and to articulate truth – the fullness of humanity – to which we aspire. The Catholic Intellectual Tradition welcomes and embraces this exploration as a participation in the common good that enhances the world we inhabit.

Our last speaker of the series is John Meehan, SJ, whose lecture is entitled, "Called to Listen, Serve and Heal: How to be a Catholic University in a Distracted, Polarized World." This will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the Kenny Theatre. To register for this lecture click here.

DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE SHARE LENT WORKSHOPS: Inspired by the October 2021 address of Pope Francis to the world meeting of popular movements, Development and Peace has chosen the theme Create Hope to guide our actions over the next five years. For the first year, they have chosen to create hope by working to Stand for the Land in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South who are defending their homelands by protecting their land and water, the environment and human life. All are welcome to join them at the upcoming Diocese of London Share Lent Workshops:

•   LONDON CENTRAL: Monday, January 30 at 7:00PM to 8:30PM at King’s University College (266 Epworth Ave, London: Wemple Hall, Vitali Lounge).

•   SOUTH-WESTERN ON VIRTUAL WORKSHOP: Thursday, February 9 at 7:00PM (Visit www.devp.org/events to register)

Kindly RSVP by emailing local D&P Animator, Emily at elukasik@devp.org. To view poster click here.

DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE: RAISE A CHEER FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET FIRST! Starting one campaign entails drawing another to a close. After more than a year of campaigning for due diligence legislation to prevent abuses by Canadian companies operating abroad, D&P is proud of having met 43 Members of Parliament and having collected over 27,000 signatures on our petition!

THANK YOU for contributing to the success of the People and Planet First campaign. Take a moment to congratulate yourself and revisit the campaign’s highlights and accomplishments.

Outreach and Justice

Supporting our Refugees:

Thank you for your ongoing support.

The need for your financial support continues due to the increased cost of housing and basic needs. Donations can be made online or using the envelopes at the back of the church.  If you are aware of any affordable housing options please let us know.

Please contact Deacon Jim or the Campus Ministry office if you are able to help.

Ongoing Programming

PRAYER WITH THE SONGS OF TAIZÉ: This 40-minute prayer consists of meditative chants, scripture, intercessions, and moments of rich silence in candlelight before the icon of the cross. This prayer takes once a month and the schedule can be found here.

CHILDREN & FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES: Learn more about children and family programs, including Sunday Children’s Program, Youth Group, and Parents and Babies Group. Connect and grow in faith. Visit the Children's and Family Programs webpage here.

Financial Support Appreciated

FAITH IN ACTION - There are many ways to give – time, talent, and treasure.  All are important. Please take a moment to consider your financial support for Campus Ministry and Christ the King University Parish. As a community of disciples, we want to be a place where welcome becomes community, where worship becomes action, and where witness becomes evangelization. Your active participation gives shape to that mission. Your financial support helps us to grow that mission and extend our outreach to those with material needs.

Please consider making a financial contribution online. Click here to set up your donation. Your donations can be directed towards either the “Refugee Sponsorship Program” or “Christ the King University Parish.” If you would like to further target your donation, you can note that in the comments.  If you require assistance, please contact Lisa Caeiro.
