LICP 2022 Summer Networking Night - August 2
Join LICP on Tuesday, August 2 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. for a Summer Networking Night at ICONYC Brewing Company. Meet business and community members over light bites from Sobremesa Cocina Mexicana and drinks from ICONYC Brewing. Tickets are $15 for LICP Members and $25 for Non-Members. Ticket includes food and one (1) drink.
Queens & Long Island City State of the Market - July 21
Join BISNOW on Thursday, July 21 at 8 a.m. for its annual Queens and Long Island City State of the Market event. The program focuses on acquisition trends, Queens' growing development sectors and rising multifamily demand. Key leadership from LIC's real estate industry will lead the discussion. This is a LICP sponsored event.

Mural Unveiling & Tea Party with MoMA PS1 - July 23
Celebrate the unveiling of After the Fire, a participatory mural project led by artists Nanibah Chacon, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, and Layqa Nuna Yawar on the walls of LICP Member MoMA PS1’s Courtyard. The event will include a complimentary tea party along the 46th Avenue Plaza in front of PS1's main entrance.

Long Island City From the Pages of the Long Island Star - July 26
Join Bob Singleton, Executive Director of the Greater Astoria Historical Society (LICP Member), for an event exploring life in Long Island City in 1896, based on stories from the newspaper of record, The Long Island Star. Tickets are $5.

Open House New York Call for Partners - Deadline: July 28
Open House New York is looking for partners for the 2022 Open House New York Weekend, which will open up hundreds of places—from single rooms, studios, factories, and public spaces to entire buildings, blocks, bike corridors, and waterways—across the five boroughs for three days of tours, talks, and special programming.

Queens Bus Network Redesign Outreach Events
This summer, the Queens Bus Network Redesign (QBNR) team will partner with the MTA’s MetroCard Mobile Sales team at select locations for pop-up events and hosting five outdoor outreach events to continue to meet with and hear from riders across the borough of Queens.

"NYC Ferry Forward" Vision Unveiled
Last week, NYC Mayor Eric Adams unveiled "NYC Ferry Forward," his vision for a more equitable, accessible, and fiscally sustainable citywide ferry system. The plan includes a new NYC Ferry Discount Program — modeled after the city's Fair Fares program for subways and buses, which offers reduced-fair rides for seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income riders.

New Member Spotlight - iMentor
iMentor is an education non-profit and youth mentoring program working to empower first-generation college students to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions through one-on-one mentorships. They have a school partnership with Information Technology High School in LIC, Queens along with 12 other school partners in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. They are looking for 1,500 men and women to start working one-on-one with a high school student Fall of 2022.

July 7-August 11 (Thursdays): Join the Noguchi Museum at the LIC Branch of the Queens Public Library for a drop-in expressive writing workshop for adults. Learn more here.

July 12-August 16 (Tuesdays): The Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College returns to LIC for its annual free Live at the Gantries Summer Concert Series in 2022. More information here.

July 14-September 9: Free outdoor movie event CinemaLIC is back for the summer 2022 season with movies starting at sunset on select days July 14-September 9. See the lineup and learn more here.

August 15 (Deadline): Rise Light & Power (LICP Member) is sponsoring a 10-week small business incubation course that Queens Public Library will host at their Queensbridge branch this fall. Learn more here.

August 22 (Deadline): Emerging AAPI artists based in New York City are invited to submit designs for the Noguchi Museum’s outdoor banners. The designs must address the theme of peace. Learn more here.

August 31 (Deadline): Artists who have not yet had an institutional exhibition in New York City are invited to submit proposals for solo exhibitions which will be presented at SculptureCenter (LICP Member). Learn more here.

COVID-19 Updates
As of June 18, the CDC recommended that all children 6 months through 5 years of age should receive a COVID-19 vaccine. More information can be found here.

As of June 13, Mayor Eric Adams announced that masks are optional for 2-4 year old children in all early childhood settings. More information can be found here.

As of June 12, air passengers do not need to get tested and show the COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to the U.S. More information can be found here.
