The Children's Trust Announces
* New or updated
Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting in April; Registration Details Next Week
Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting: Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Children's Trust will host a general session for all Trust-funded providers from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Breakout sessions will follow for providers in the areas of Youth Development K-5, 6-12, Parenting/Family Strengthening and Partnerships, and will take place from 12-1 p.m. The Provider Meeting will take place virtually. Please ensure that all staff members who are essential to our partnership attend; this includes your executive director/CEO for the morning session, along with the individuals who manage your program for the breakout sessions. Registration details coming soon.

UM Team COACH: Communities of Practice
Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.

Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. We will also be identifying solutions, practicing these strategies and discussing the implementation of them into your practice. Click here to sign up or log in to Trust Academy!

Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. The New Normal: Returning to In-Person Services during COVID-19 - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to share ideas and problem-solve strategies for returning to in-person services for group-based, home-based, and office-based parenting services. We will discuss recruitment, communication, and safety strategies for your staff and participants. Come prepared to share your agency’s ideas to help all programs successfully serve the community. Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Part 1– You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This in-person course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

  • Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.  
  • Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.
  • Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

New Project-Based Learning Online Course from Project RISE
Participants learn how Project-Based Learning (PBL) can be used to engage youth by connecting them with real-world experiences, motivating them to solve problems in their communities, and exposing youth to a wide range of career options. When YD staff support & guide youth through PBL, their youth participants will have more opportunities to use creativity, learn meaningful skills, practice problem solving, and become leaders. This new course is accessible through the Trust Academy Course Catalog.

Summer Food Service Program Available for Those You Serve *
The Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church is a sponsor for the Summer Food Service Program for youth ages 3-18 years. FREE Education and Early Intervention Mental Health Programs by NAMI
Teach youth about mental wellness with a FREE program "Ending the Silence" (ETS) presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Miami-Dade County. ETS is a 50-minute or longer virtual/in-person presentation that increases knowledge about warning signs of mental health issues, diminishes stigma, encourages youth to seek help, and provides local and national resources. There is also a FREE "Ending the Silence" 60-minute or longer mental wellness presentation for parents/caregivers.
FREE Parenting Programs with Federation of Families *
The Triple P Parenting Program is for parents with children who have mild to moderate behavioral issues and are under the age of 12 years old. The program consists of 10 FREE, 1 hour, parenting sessions with a Triple P Parent Educator from FOF. Parents will learn and practice the skills necessary to tackle behavioral challenges with various strategies implemented from the evidence-based Triple P curriculum. We provide the sessions in English or Spanish, in-home or virtual.
Join Focus Groups to Share Thoughts on Mental Health Challenges
Miami-Dade County residents are encouraged to join a focus group to share their thoughts about mental health and challenges in their communities virtually on Monday, April 4, and Thursday, April 7, or in-person on Wednesday, April 6 at Citrus Health Primary Care, 4125 West 20 Avenue, Hialeah. The focus groups are for individuals 18 years or older and residents of Miami-Dade. Participation is voluntary during the 1-hour sessions. Register below:

Free Community Leadership Training from Be Strong International
Be Strong will be implementing an 8-week Community Leadership Training starting this month. This program is free and available to community leaders, local nonprofits, business owners, and other residents looking to serve and help our community. Be Strong will provide lunch, materials and upon completion, three participants will be selected to receive a stipend to support their own community projects. Sign up below:

American Rescue Plan Grants Available Through Early Learning Coalition
The Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe is now accepting and processing grant applications for funds available through the American Rescue Plan Act Grants. Grants will be awarded in three equal payments, with the first one within 30 days of application approval and the other two installments at 90-day intervals. Research & Evaluation Analyst at The Children's Trust
The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.
Community Engagement Manager at The Children's Trust
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents, and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. Intervention Coordinators *
The Overtown Youth Center is seeking a full-time intervention coordinator who will be part of a service team working in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools as part of the i3 Attendance and Enrollment Support Services Initiative. This initiative focuses on providing wrap-around service support to families of students with attendance issues at school. A minimum of two years experience working with youth/adult programs is required as are bilingual (Spanish or Creole) capabilities.

Workforce Development Specialist *
The Overtown Youth Center is hiring a full-time, workforce development specialist. This individual's role will include coaching, teaching and facilitating referrals for job placements and job training programs. This role also involves assisting clients with job readiness skills such as resume preparation, interview skill development, financial literacy/planning, and referrals to community resources.
