Program Spotlight: How We're Integrating More Music With Lynn University's Music Conservatory

“Music stimulates so many parts of the brain at the same time in a way that other things can’t imitate,” says Lisa Leonard, an accomplished pianist, professor and director at Lynn University Conservatory of Music.

Lisa and her students are bringing more musical experiences to Connections this spring. They visit Connections monthly, sharing their talents and introducing our students to musical concepts and instruments through hands-on sessions.

THANK YOU to our incredible community of supporters for making this year's Gala the best yet! 

Because of you, we raised $464,978 that will help us continue empowering students and young adults with autism to reach their full potential!

Your generous donations will help fund our aquatics program that saves lives by teaching those with autism how to swim and stay safe near water. This essential program combats drowning -- the number one cause of death for children with autism -- and is included in the curriculum for all of our students. Proceeds also help us continue our adult program and fund other key areas.

CBS Highlights the Recipes for Success Program and the Connections Students Working Toward Culinary Careers

CBS 12 News highlighted the Recipes for Success program by Extraordinary Charities, through which a group of Connections students and young adults are learning essential skills for careers in the culinary industry.

Three times a week, these students attend class in a fully equipped, commercial kitchen where they learn from an accomplished chef with support from Connections teachers.

Special Olympics Partnership: Our Students Make More Progress in the Curriculum!

Through our partnership with the Special Olympics, Connections students are working through an adaptive sports curriculum as we move closer to becoming designated as a Unified Champion School.

This month, our students have focused on obstacle course skills such as balancing, jumping, tossing and aiming. They've also worked on skills related to soccer and basketball.

On March 1, our entire school will take part in the Special Olympics' nationwide "Spread the Word >> Inclusion" campaign designed to spark meaningful discussions about inclusion for people of all abilities. Watch for more details coming soon on our Facebook and Instagram accounts!
