We were honored to have City of Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth there to speak on the issue of affordable housing in Denton and Habitat's important role in it. Rev. Cedric Chambers of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church also led the crowd in the prayers of blessing and dedication of the home. The Colony Quilt Guild also blessed the family by donating beautiful handmade quilts.
Over 150 volunteers helped build this home, led by site leader, Bill Stewart, and our amazing Build Committee. Past Construction Manager, Ken Reedy, returned to hand the keys over to the Sosa Family at this ceremony. Dina Sosa invested more than 300 hours of her own labor, called “sweat equity,” into the building of her home.
This home, at 1028 E. McKinney Street in Denton, was supported by numerous sponsors and donors, including Wells Fargo, Denton Bible Church, Gillean Brothers Roofing, Force Home Services, and so many more. Thank you to all involved for the hard work and love poured into the building of this home.

Part of Habitat's mission is to prepare those in our community for the large endeavor of homeownership, and one way we can do that for everyone is through free financial education. We understand the hard work and determination involved in becoming a homeowner, and we continually meet families who are up for the challenge. These classes are required for Habitat homeowners as part of their “sweat equity” hours, but anyone in the surrounding community interested in preparing for homeownership is welcome.

He is originally from Jordan, and now resides in the DFW area with his wife and two young daughters.

After several construction delays, we are finally in the last stages of preparation before "Walls Up" on our 2021 Interfaith Build at 506 Wye Street in Denton on Saturday, February 19. Thank you to our Interfaith Partners for their support of this build and for their patience. We can't wait to get started on this home alongside the Crawford Family!
