Suffering from extreme fur loss, skin irritation, and covered in fleas, Leddy required immediate care.
April 1, 2022
Although you would not be able to tell by looking at Leddy today, this 7-year-old cat was in poor shape when surrendered to HSLM in September of 2021. Suffering from extreme fur loss, skin irritation, and covered in fleas, Leddy required immediate care.
The HSLM Animal Health department was able to provide Leddy with an initial exam and then schedule an urgent veterinary appointment for the following day. There, she was prescribed injectable steroids and antibiotics to soothe her irritated skin and clear up the infection.
Following the vet appointment, one of the HSLM Registered Veterinary Technicians gave Leddy a medicated bath and then placed her in one of the HSLM incubators to dry. By the end of the day, it was noted that Leddy's skin was already looking improved!
Leddy's in-shelter care regimen of medicated baths, antibiotics, ointments, and steroids continued for several weeks thanks to the dedicated Animal Health and Animal Care departments.
Although Leddy will require steroids and a hypoallergenic diet throughout her life, she is now free of fleas, fur loss and skin irritation. We are very pleased to say that she is happy, healthy and living a wonderful life with her adopter!
Heartwarming stories, like Leddy's, are made possible thanks to the support of our donors! As a non-profit, charitable organization that does not receive government funding, we would be unable to provide life-saving care to pets in our community without financial contributions from individuals such as yourself.
Please consider making a donation TODAY to help more shelter pets, just like Leddy!
