APP 2023 Winter Conference
RECAP
Returning to Hawaii for the first time since 2020, the APP’s 2023 Winter Conference was hailed a success in early survey results by attendees. The event, held from February 8 to 10, 2023 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort in Honolulu, saw both first-time and returning attendees enjoying engaging presentations along with plenty of opportunities to network, reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

With one-third of attendees already having responded to our survey, we’ve had very positive feedback and a clear direction set for future Winter Conferences. Almost 80% of those who responded to our survey felt Honolulu, Hawaii was a “very good” or “excellent” choice as the locale.

Additional results from our survey include:
  • High marks were recorded for all presenters with comments reaffirming the choice of speakers and topics.
  • The tour of The Pasha Group's Kapalama Container Terminal was rated as one of the main highpoints of the entire conference.
  • Over 80% of attendees felt there was a good balance between presentations, networking and off-site events.
  • In terms of topics for future conferences, the highest rated was "New Technology", followed by "Infrastructure Planning" and "Port/Harbor Operations". Additional suggestions included disaster preparations and best resiliency practices as well as topics that would be of interest to ports who also operate airports and recreational marinas.
  • And in a sign that bodes well for the 109th Annual Conference (Long Beach, August 13 to 16, 2023), almost 80% indicated they will "likely" or "very likely" attend.

We cannot understate our appreciation for the amazing support received from our sponsors, presenters and attendees -- together, you made the conference a success!
