From the Minister
My Dear Friends—
On my second day here at King’s Chapel, I brought a single item with me to decorate my office. Before the arrival of the books and the photographs and the plants—or even the desk upon which I write these words—there was a single card, which has occupied
a place on the mantle every day since: a white dove, wings extended, hovers in flight, grasping an olive branch against the backdrop of a brilliant blue sky. It was a gift from Joy, our senior minister, in honor of my birthday and first day of ministry. “May the Spirit fill your life with peace, wisdom, and strength,” she wrote. “Hovering over us, leading us where we didn’t expect to go, finding life in what has long seemed like only waves—how blessed we are that She brought you to us!” Click here to continue reading.

From the Bench
This Sunday, we ease into Mother's Day with Sometimes I Feel like a Motherless Child, as arranged for solo organ by Iain Farrington. Thomas Gregg is home from snowbirding in Tucson, so he will sing a setting of the Prayer of St. Francis by another centennial composer, Russell Woollen.
The choir will sing Tom's piece Hiding Place, based on Psalm 32 and featuring Alison LaRosa on baroque flute. The choir will also sing Bobby McFerrin's setting of The 23rd Psalm and, for a spot of Marian devotion, Madonna on the Waves by Danish composer P.E. Lange-Müller. The postlude is another spiritual reimagined by Iain Farrington, Every Time I Feel the Spirit..

Memorial Update
Last Sunday, following a presentation of our journey over the past four plus years, a review of the issues raised to date, and an opportunity to hear both from the members of the committee and the membership, we posed the question, asking whether we should create a memorial inclusive of a commemoration design by Harmonia Rosales, and also a fund dedicated to advancing the work of repair and reconciliation. The response of those present was clear, with 43 of the 60 members voting in favor of moving forward.
With tremendous appreciation and gratitude to all those who have accompanied us on this journey, the Committee indicated that we would continue to address attendant issues and concerns as we move closer to the Annual Meeting on June 4th, when the official vote on the proposal will be taken.
