If you’ve read the Annual Report to the Congregation, you might have noticed that we have changed the names of the two funds in the Foundation to reflect what is done with those monies in each fund.
The Community Impact Fund, established in 1978, reviews and makes Grants based upon the requests received meeting the established criteria after review/recommendation by the Grants Committee and approved by the Trustees. Grants are made to SAKLC ministries, other expressions of ELCA Lutheran ministry and other 501(3)© non-profit organizations that are local, state, national or international in service location, with a focus on “capacity building.”
The Church Support Fund, established in 2011, enables church members to create an on-going legacy that endows a continuation of financial support that provides for the future of the church’s on-going ministry. The investment of this fund and its earnings will support an annual grant that can only be given to SAKLC and can be used for any purpose authorized by the Church Council.
To learn how you can contribute to these funds, please contact Pastor Blyth or a member of the Foundation.

Christian Education Class Series: Eighth-Day Discipleship: A New Vision for Faith, Work & Economics with Richard H. Bliese
Take the Class. Meet the Author.
Grow in Discipleship.
Richard H. Bliese in his book, and in this class, “draws on the historic architecture of eight-sided churches to call attention to an important but often overlooked emphasis on the eighth day of creation. Early Christians were focused on God's new creation that began in Christ's resurrection on Sunday, the first day of the week. But these Christians understood resurrection as the continuation of God's creative and redemptive activity. So the first day of the week became the eighth day of creation, and therefore the day of resurrection work and time to join with Christ in transforming the world. Christian disciples do this work by living out their baptismal vocations, especially in their daily work and through their ethical economic choices.”
Taught By Richard H. Bliese
“An accomplished leader, teacher, innovator, and visionary with extensive ministerial experience on three continents, forty years of church leadership, nonprofit and entrepreneurial experience in over fifteen different organizations, and deep teaching and consulting expertise nationally and internationally in theological education and congregational ministry. He is the editor, with Craig Van Gelder, of The Evangelizing Church: A Lutheran Contribution.”
When: Tuesdays, for six weeks, February 21-March 28, 2-3:30pm.
Preparation: Purchase and begin to read Richard’s book, ISBN 978-1506478838, available on Amazon.
