1. Prep your kids! Will you be changing up bedtime? What are your expectations for screen time? Are you implementing new or different chores around the house? TELL YOUR KIDS! Make sure they are aware of any new or different expectations you have over the summer. Bring them into the conversation, you can even get buy-in by getting their opinions or ideas. This will ensure that all of you are on the same page. Review these expectations often!
2. Use Visuals! Visuals are a great way to make sure everyone is clear on what is coming up. You can use a weekly calendar for events, a daily checklist for chores, and even a weekly glance at meals. This also takes some of the pressure off you to constantly remind, remind, remind! Hang those visuals somewhere accessible that everyone can see. If your babies are too young to read you can use pictures instead of words. Everyone in the family can benefit from visuals!
You can do this! Give yourself some grace this summer, take a few deep breaths when you need them, and know that you are doing your best!
