Throughout the month of January, thousands of Atlantans will honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr through volunteer service. APS has partnered with Hands On Atlanta to offer volunteer service opportunities throughout Metro Atlanta for students, parents, and staff. Hands On Atlanta has a special selection of projects for individuals to get involved and make an impact in our community. It’s first come, first serve - so register today!

KEEP IT 100! MLK Day Event
The Emerging 100 of Atlanta in partnership with the Atlanta Board of Education & the Student Advisory Council is excited to invite staff, students, and families of APS middle and high schools to attend an MLK Day event, "Keep it 100: Protecting the Dreams of our Youth." The event will take place on Sunday, January 15th from 2-5 p.m. at The B.E.S.T. Academy.
This community-focused program centered around combating youth violence in our city will include a peace vigil, live entertainment, basketball/gaming activities, free haircuts, and much more!

There are a number of requirements that must be met in order for your senior to graduate, so we want to make you aware of the quickly approaching deadlines. Pre-K Lottery Opens January 16th
Would you like to provide your child with an early pathway to achieving academic, emotional, and social success? Atlanta Public Schools offers full-time, state-funded Pre-K that prepares students for a successful transition to kindergarten.

This year the Office of Student Discipline, in partnership with Odyssey Family Counseling, launched a violence prevention program funded by the US Department of Justice. Washington High School and Douglass 9th Grade STEAM Academy, the first two cohorts of students to complete, the Teaching Holistic Responses and Information for Violence Elimination (THRIVE) program, graduated in December 2022. Way to go!
