BHS Pre-Cal Students Use Math Skills to Solve Real-Life Situations
Ms. Boelen's Pre-Calculus class has been working on a unit consisting of systems of equations, matrices, and vectors. After completing a cryptography project using inverse matrices, the students completed the unit by creating a model of a real-life situation of travel. The students drew diagrams, discovered missing information, and used their previous knowledge of trigonometric ratios to calculate displacement and direction.
Students enjoyed being able to use a variety of methods learned in this course and in previous courses to accurately derive their solutions.

The greatest mistake we can make is believing our words have no value in the lives of our students. The tone and register of your voice conveys meaning along with the words. Some words are neutral in meaning but can sound positive or negative depending on how you say them. Our words have meaning!
