A Message from Candace
I know this father's day can be bittersweet for so many of us. Either our fathers have passed or our children have. My daughter was killed just before mother's day and it was years before I could celebrate that day without acute pain. What helped me that first mother's day was a friend and her daughter who showed up with my favorite pie, lemon meringue, something my mother used to make when she was alive. I was so touched by their thoughtfulness and yes, I cried but it also made me smile. If you know someone who will be spending a lonely or sad father's day, here are some things you can do to help mitigate their loneliness or sadness. Listen to their feelings, talk about their loved one, stay in touch, be supportive of other family members, bring a pie or something else they would like, and just show you care.
You are all in my thoughts and I wish everyone a safe and peaceful father's day.
