MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Congregants,

At the special meeting of our congregation held yesterday evening, the members voted to approve the Board’s recommendation to hire Rabbi Scott Hoffman as our Interim Rabbi for a two-year term commencing on July 1, 2022. The number of congregants who voted at the meeting was a total of 134, which may be a record in recent years.

I telephoned Rabbi Hoffman today about the result of the meeting. He is very excited about the opportunity to serve as our Rabbi and to return to New Orleans, where he fondly remembers his rabbinate at Chevra Thilim in the early 1990’s.

The process for selecting a new Rabbi for our Shul has been a long and arduous process, and I want to personally thank all of the members of the Search Committee for the many hours of time and effort that they devoted to the task. I also want to thank all of you who participated in the surveys for all the candidates over the last few months. Your input was invaluable and helped to inform our decisions.

The next step will be formalizing the written contract between the congregation and Rabbi Hoffman, after which a public and formal announcement to the community will be made. Regardless of whether Rabbi Hoffman was your preferred candidate, I know that all of us will unite behind him as he, and we, move forward to meet the challenges that we will face in the future.

Shabbat Shalom,

Peter Title
President
