  Appalachian Center For Economic Networks

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of ACEnet!
  Let's Meet Some Clients!

Lava Joe's is a family company of entrepreneurs who have sought to bring you the best tasting hot sauce known to man. They  created their sauces after years of research and tasting.

Conventional hot sauces are usually vinegary with an immediate bite of hotness that sometimes masks the flavor of the food to which you apply it. Their hot sauce is a unique blend of tomato ingredients, peppers, onions and other flavor components. All varieties offer a sweet introduction to the palate which is followed by a pleasant heat sensation from habanero peppers that does not obscure the flavor of the food you are enjoying. The afterglow is warm and allows you to continue using it without the loss of your taste buds.

Based in New castle, PA
the guys from Lava Joe's travel to ACEnet to utilize our large commercial kitchen. They have three hot sauce varieties: Sweet, Signature, and Molten Lava Hot Sauce. Lava Joe's hot sauces are very versatile!  For parties, they can be used as cocktail sauce for shrimp and other seafood; they can be used as a dip or cooking agent with chicken wings; and they are excellent for a barbeque, including hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausages, such as Kielbasa. Lava Joe's can be used to accompany ethnic cuisine such as Asian, Mexican, and Spanish. For breakfast,  spice up scrambled eggs, fried eggs and potatoes. Lava Joe's is like no sauce you've ever tasted!

Based out of Kimbolton, Ohio,  Joyful Jars creates  one of the best hand crafted, small batch fruit preserves on the market today. Each unique jar is created with top quality ingredients all mixed with love, patience, and a lot of faith. Not just made for t oast, these jams & jellies can be used as glazes and sauces for foods as diverse as meat & cheesecake!

Having grown up in rural Ohio on a dairy farm, Joyful Jars owner/operator Misty Warden always had an appreciation for homemade products . Everything from garden grown vegetables to fresh milk and made from scratch baked bread and cakes. Each item on the table was grown, prepared, and served with love. This is the same perspective that she uses to create each of her products.

September Product of the Month!
August Caravan a Great Success!
Kroger in Athens, located on East State Street, is not just another grocery store. It's staff isn't focused on only the bottom line. The focus is not only on the customer but the community as a whole. Store Manager Joshua Wise describes it as a symbiotic relationship between business and community and said that is a very intentional strategy.

Kr oger continues its community-minded strategy by implementing a number of local products into its inventory. Many of the products are born from the Appalachian Center for Economic Networks. Find the aisle labeled "Discover Local" and you are flooded with a smorgasbord of locally produced foods.

Because of its efforts, Kroger - not only a sponsor of the 30th anniversary celebration of ACEnet - is being named the September Product of the Month. Read the full story from the Athens Messenger HERE.

The staff at OhioHealth O'Bleness Athens Medical Associates OB/GYN were happy to take a break during their busy work day on Thursday to sample some locally grown and produced foods.

The fun came courtesy of the Appalachian Center for Economic Networks' (ACEnet) Caravan.

The gynecological firm (formerly known as River Rose) was the most recent winner in ACEnet's quarterly contest. The Caravan brings local foods created at, or in partnership with, ACEnet to employees at area businesses for lunch.

On Thursday, the office's break room in the Castrop Center was overflowing with goodies from businesses like Crumbs Bakery, Shagbark Seed and Mill, Vino de Milo, Herbal Sage Tea Company, Green Edge Gardens, Creekside Farm, Mad Sweet Heat, and non-alcoholic beverages from new Athens brewing companies Little Fish, and Devil's Kettle.
