FREP is deeply saddened by the death of our treasurer and past president, Elizabeth Hagen-Moeller, on February 22, 2023.
In addition to her long relationship with FREP, Elizabeth was the administrative & education coordinator for Kane DuPage Soil & Water Conservation District. She was involved in many watershed activities, especially those involving environmental education, over a couple of decades. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial celebration will be planned for June.

Going Circular is a full-length documentary. From the globe-spanning patterns of ocean currents to the microscopic cycles of a living cell, our planet sustains balance through circularity. Scientists, inventors, economists, and designers are increasingly finding that nature’s most fundamental rules of the biosphere may just be the solution to humanity’s collision course with the technosphere.

President's Message from Jeff
Spring is right around the corner, probably earlier than usual due to climate change, even though we are having an ice storm as I write this. But spring means it is time for our annual Fox River Summit and One Earth Film Festival.
This will be our 11th annual Fox River Summit. I think we’ve all learned a lot from each other over those years. This year will be no exception. Lots of great things on the program including a keynote that will expand on our program from February on freshwater mussels in the Fox River and its tributaries. So please plan to join us in Burlington, Wisconsin on March 16th for another great summit. And you won’t want to miss the raffle and a special appearance by a new character from the river.
Have you ever wondered how the films are selected each year for the One Earth Film Festival? From the One Earth web page, 218 long & short films were reviewed beginning of September to mid-December by 91 film reviewers. There were 1,043 evaluations/film report cards submitted (average of 11 per reviewer)(who’s got time to watch that many films??).
So, as we gear up for the 2023 One Earth Film Festival, let's give a round of applause to the reviewers who have worked tirelessly to bring us the best films for this year's event. Once all this reviewing had taken place, FREP selected from a short list of films offered. Our film this year is Going Circular and we will be back in-person at Waubonsee Community College - Aurora Downtown campus on March 9th. Please bring all your friends and family for an inspiring film, followed by a lively discussion. The idea behind the festival is to inspire people who will then join us in taking action for the planet. Special thanks to all of our Fox River Partners who joined us in sponsoring this film screening.
I hope to see you all there.
