Happy Floody Friday the 13th-
Rain, more rain and bit more. Not so much fun for many, but good for the reservoirs, at least. We have some security for the next year in our water supply, so that's good news. Hopefully folks still consider being thoughtful in their water use around the state, though, as we just don't know what next year will bring (or won't bring).
Regarding the storms, we have obviously had some lightning that has come through the area, and still more may pass through in the coming days. Please note that for your safety we will require all people to exit the pool, hot tub and kiddie wader (currently closed for the season) anytime there is lightning within 10 miles, and will not allow people to reenter the pool until 30 minutes have passed since the last strike within 10 miles. We use a program call WeatherBug.com to help us assess the lightning proximity and strike times. Again - this is for your safety, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation should we need to do this (which thankfully is rather rare!)
On another note, we need to do a cleaning in the lower gym on Monday from 7am-10am, during which time the lower gym will not be available. The rest of the fitness center will be, though. More info below.
Lots of other info in this newsletter, as well, including the sudden and heartbreaking passing of HP Member, Benito Tancor, Last chance info on the Legacy Film Festival On Aging (and a member's film in the festival), Final reminder of Bob and Linda's Home Town Episode, Important Friday Fitness updates from Leigh, our St Vincent de Paul Society Fundraiser Results (in the HPCF section), the 2023 tennis clinic list, videos videos videos and more...

Loss of Our Friend, Benito
We were all shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Harbor Point tennis member, resident and friend to many, Dr. Benito Tancor. On and off the tennis court, Benito was a true gentleman and a kind soul, who will truly be missed by many of us at Harbor Point. We send our sympathies and healing thoughts to Patricia and family.

Last Chance: Legacy Film Festival on Aging
HP Member, Steven Kovacs, has Short Film Featured
As mentioned last month in the newsletter, Harbor Point member, Steven Kovacs, had two of his short documentary films screened in SF in November. Both focused on "vigorous octogenarians", and the first one, Arthur and Lillie, was nominated for an Academy Award in 1976 for "Best Doc Short Subject". Now, the second film, High as a Kite, is being screened online during the Legacy Film Festival on Aging, which ends after the weekend. Check his film out by CLICKING HERE, and learn more about the entire Legacy Film Festival on Aging by CLICKING HERE.

Reminder: Watch Bob & Linda's Awesome Home Town Episode!
Bob Kaliski and Linda Nelson bought a fixer upper home in Laurel, Mississippi, which was chosen to be on the HGTV home fixer-upper show, Home Town!
The Home Town episode featuring the reveal of their home aired on January 1, and it was a hoot! Really well done, actually, and interesting too. It is quite enjoyable and worth tracking down.
The Home Town episode is Episode 4 from Season 7, and is called "Ginkgos and Gondolas". It is now available for streaming via FUBO.TV, HGTV, Discovery +, and for rent on Amazon Prime and Youtube

Temp Drop In Pool?
We hope not, but one of our Pool Cover Storage Reels broke and we cannot safely move the reel into position to put the cover on the pool over the next few nights. On Monday, a welder is scheduled to come out and repair the reel, but until then we will only be able to cover half the pool, at the most. Apologies for the inconvenience.

|
Lower Gym Closed For Cleaning Monday AM
We will be doing a deep cleaning in the lower gym on Monday from 7am-10am, so it will be closed. We will still have the upstairs facilities available for use during that time, including the cardio machines that now live in the upstairs hallway.

FRIDAY FITNESS
Again, it is a Happy, Rainy Friday! The Club and our classes are a great place to escape the rain. We are fortunate to have many options for exercise indoors when our outdoor options are not as appealing. The Leg Press machine and the AMT are fixed! Thank you for your patience.
It is great to see so many of you swimming on these rainy days. You are already wet, so why not?

Beneficiary in Focus: St Vincent de Paul Society (and the results of our Matching Challenge!)
Over the holidays we had our St Vincent de Paul Society of Marin (SVdPS) Fundraiser with a matching challenge, where we had 10K in matching from the HPCF and 10K from a HPCF board member. From the members and residents we raised $5,000 in December (Nice!) and both the HPCF and the HPCF board member decided to throw in the full 10K each to make the total donation to St Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County reach a total of: $25,000!!!
Thank you to all who donated to the SVdPS Fundraiser!
(and to the SF Marin Food Bank Drive - - we'll share the results of that in the next few weeks.)

Spiral Studio Marin
Increase Strength and Mobility with Pilates and GYROTONIC Sessions
Harbor Point members (and non-members!) can improve their flexibility and achieve an overall feeling of balance at Carla Daro-Kaliski’s Spiral Studio. Her GYROTONIC and Pilates sessions can stimulate your muscle, skeletal, and nervous systems to increase strength and joint mobilization, as well as decompress the spine, so your whole body experiences greater vitality in a natural way. For beginners and experienced athletes, too.
You’re invited to try a discounted introductory package of 3 lessons, available for just $175. Book online and learn more at www.spiralstudiomarin.com. Reach out with any questions :)
I am loving Gyrotonic, and Carla is just fabulous. It has made me stronger and more flexible from just a few sessions, and is gradually improving the way I sit, stand, and move. Very subtle and pretty amazing stuff.

|
Well, this didn't age well....:
|

Not sure what I like better - The bowling trick shots, the narrator, or Andy's big goofy smile:
|
|
Even a short visit under the ice gives me the chills:

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
