Welcome to the newest edition of the Cornerstones newsletter. The BACnet International community benefits from information and education shared through Cornerstones, the organization's monthly electronic publication. This publication is distributed to members of the BACnet International community, connecting corporate, integrator, site, student and individual users to BACnet news and updates.

Cornerstones is a unique publication because it speaks not only to the engineer and contractor communities, but also to facility professionals, building managers and owners, and other personnel.

Join us for this year's PlugFest!

Come test your BACnet products with BACnet devices from other vendors in a neutral and friendly environment and have the opportunity to improve your BACnet implementation and testing methods!

This year's PlugFest will take place Tuesday, October 3rd through Thursday, October 5th at the University of New Hampshire's InterOperability Laboratory. Registration will open next month. Learn from last year's attendees about the product testing benefits and networking opportunities available at PlugFest.

TBI RESOURCE CORNER

Every month, BACnet International will highlight a resource from The BACnet Institute Resource Library!

In this month's featured resource, "BACnet/SC: The Big Picture," David Fisher provides a comprehensive overview of BACnet/SC and how it will continue to play a role in the security of building automation.

The BACnet Institute (TBI) is an online portal for BACnet-focused learning and knowledge sharing. It provides an easy path to BACnet information and learning for everyone involved with BACnet systems. The portal includes three on-demand FREE courses and over 160 resources including white papers, articles, presentations and a community forum. TBI Resources are free, but registration for an account is required. Courses are eligible for CEUs and PDHs.

Each year TBI continues to grow. Since its launch in January 2017, over 6,000 registered users across more than 80 countries have accessed its resources. TBI’s simple search function allows users to get quick access to anything they need.

Nlyte Software adds Security and Architecture Enhancements to Data Center Optimization Lifecycle Solution

Nlyte Software, part of Carrier Global Corporation, recently released Nlyte R14, which now includes new architecture and security enhancements. With the new cross-platform poller that increases flexibility and introduces new architecture, Nlyte R14 can be installed on Windows servers and as a Docker container on Linux hosts, reducing the need for additional hardware. Linux users can enjoy the benefits of Nlyte Software without added license costs.

The latest poller increases the security of the system by reducing the number of open inbound system ports. The update, with cloud friendly architecture, offers support for Nlyte deployments in Microsoft Azure Platform as a Service, as well as German language support.

Reliable Controls adds to its Suite of Indoor Air Quality Solutions with an Optional Particulate Matter Sensor

Reliable Controls recently released an optional particulate matter (PM_2.5) sensor for its MACH-ProView™ controllers. The PM sensor option for these products complements the company’s existing carbon dioxide and volatile organic compound sensor options to provide a complete indoor air quality solution for the built environment.

The PM sensor available for MACH-ProView controllers is the Sensirion SPS30, which offers precise measurement of dust and other particles to determine the air quality in a space based on laser scattering. PM_2.5refers to particles in the air that are 2.5 microns or less in width—about 30 times smaller than the width of a human hair. PM_2.5 particles are among the most dangerous air pollutants; their small size means they can travel deep into the respiratory tract and cause a variety of health issues.
