March 23, 2022
Welcome to the Parks & Recreation Roundup, a bi-monthly publication aimed at
keeping the community informed on our programs, events, and partnerships
DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Ski Ascent Series Race #5
The fifth and final race of the 2021-2022 Town Challenge Ski Ascent Series will take place tomorrow at Steamboat Resort. Calling all runners, hikers, and snowshoe enthusiasts, this race is for you. Since this is an uphill only race, we are excited to offer a foot division. Run or hike up, then take the gondola down. Join at the Coca-Cola Snow Beach at 7:30 PM for an end-of-season celebration, awards, and food.
ASSET Camp Registration
Registration for summer ASSET camps will open to Routt County residents on Monday, March 28. As a reminder, we will be using a new registration system starting with all summer programs, so make sure to go online in advance to set up your new account and user profile. This must be completed prior to registering for summer programs. Full day Summer Camp will open for registration on Monday, April 4.
Join Our Team
Parks & Recreation is currently hiring for a variety of full and part-time positions. Both the full time and seasonal positions offer a variety of great benefits and competitive pay. Visit our website to browse a list of available positions and apply today!
Howelsen Hill Closing Day
It's hard to believe, but there is less than two weeks left in the Howelsen Hill 2021-2022 season. Join us on Sunday, April 3 for our final Ski Free Sunday and Howelsen Hill Closing Day Celebration. The Outrun Snack Bar will feature food and drink specials, City Council will be on hand with free goodies, there will be live music from Morningside String Band from 12 PM to 3 PM and much, much more!
Spring Cleaning - Pet Waste
It is that time of year when the snow starts to melt and reveal all of the hidden goodies that your pet has left throughout the winter. Do your part this spring by scooping your pet's poop before it has a chance to mingle with the melting snow and enter our local waterways. Help keep our trails, open spaces, and waterways free from poop pollution by using recycled or compostable plastic bags and picking up after your pet.
PARTNER SPOTLIGHTS
History Happy Hour
Join the Tread of Pioneers Museum for the final History Happy Hour of the season on Tuesday, April 5 at 5:30 PM. The event will take place at Olympian Hall inside the Howelsen Hill Lodge and includes FREE beer provided by local breweries. The final History Happy Hour will explore "Mad Creek Discoveries" with Cheri Daschle. The event is free to attend and masks are required for all participants.
There Is An App For That!
The Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Center is always looking for ways to improve the guest experience, and now they have their own app! The simple-to-use app will make it easier for guests to book a court, register for a program and update your calendar. Download the new app by searching your phone's app store for "Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball" and looking for the center's logo shown here on the left.
